I am old fashion and don't find this funny as to say
It is the times we live in and the people are not informed.
In my day the most of us were farm raised.
Then there is the people who have a name for all their birds
I never allowed my children to have rabbits or chickens with names
because my doing slaughtering I never allowed pets in the business
So no names given to any as when their time came it was done.
I think that as a breeder you should have a nice thought in helping these people to learn something sensible about the animal or bird that would stay with them
Then if you have named pets we all accept that and realize every ones thoughts towards animals and birds are different My interest was helping the people learn breed names such as Cochin, white rock, silkie, cornish etc.
Also teaching people that pure bred birds are bantams not bantie etc.
Also learning from a ABA or APA standard the disqualifications and defects that were attributed to their breed of bantam, large fowl or turkeys, or waterfowl.
Some constructive things to tell people about your pure bred pet chicken etc.
My thoughts are to the pure bred birds and how they can be perfected towarfds the standard.
This is very important to the breeding and preserving of heritage breeds.
We all find funny different things
my funny experience was when I could make a 4-her feel special about a purebred bird and be glad she or he could show them in 4-h. Pride is doing something according to the standard set up for the breed.
Encouraging those learning from us to raise purebred breeds and know something to pass on to others about your favorite breed.
So hopefully we can feel good about promoting our own favorites in animals and birds
Dated a girl once that liked deer meat but would not touch frog legs.So my mom cooked frog legs one night (not knowing the full story)and I told her they were deer ribs. She inhaled them. After she got done I told her what they really were. Then she said I wondered why they had joints. She was a good sport.
When I was stationed in Jacksonville FL during my imprisonment in the US Navy, I met a guy from Orlando that became my best friend. He and his family lived in on-base housing and bought a house eventually in the burbs.... I went to visit him and his family one day....
Him- Yeah it's pretty sweet we have some maple trees in the back and we're thinking about tapping them.
Me-Lets see them.
(After looking at them)
Me- Who told you these were maples?
Him- Our neighbor.
Me- (Laughing hysterically) Dude.... These are Oak Trees....
my husband took in a lunch to work made from our own veggies and home grown pork. one of his co workers gave a big rant about how he wont ever eat pork b/c they eat their own poo (edited by author but you get the hint).
hubby tried to explain that no they dont but the co worker wouldnt hear of it and went on and on about the poo eating pigs.
the co worker was eating pizza with mushrooms. someone finally leaned over and asked him if he knew what mushrooms were grown in.
we've laughed about that one for a while.
and yep we have family members who wont eat our fresh eggs but only will eat eggs from the store. sigh. oh well more for us!
