I think she means that the person who said that thought the eggs would hatch IN the refrigerator, without incubation.

My aunt is not a city slicker but the other day she told me that white eggs were fake and didn't come from chickens.I said well where do they come from then and she said they make them. And I said no they most likely come from legherns and the brown ones are probably Rhode Island Reds. And then my Uncle who is a city slicker pipes up and says well how does the chicken put the EB on the egg?

As a child I wanted a pony sooo bad after reading Misty and then a horse after reading Black beauty . I thought horses were sooo smart. As an adult I leased a camp quarterhorse and found out just how dumb some of them are!

Surely he was joking! I hope?

Nope she was serious and then told me she could taste the difference from the fake white ones with the real brown ones.

I think with the older folk who always had chickens they think you need a rooster because they had one and it never would have occurred to them not to have a Roo in the barnyard. Nowadays lots of backyard flocks don't have Roos. And fertilitly wasn't something your 94 year old grandmother would have ever ?. considering it had to do with tabboo subjects back then
