Funniest Things A City Slicker Has Ever Said To You?

The urban legend was that daddy long legs were poisonous , but their mouths/fangs were too small to bite through human skin. I just looked on Snopes and it says that it is false.

Pets spend there day trying to figure out how to get on the kitchen table. Livestock spends there day trying to figure out how to stay off it.

One of the incidents that happened out here. Some hunters (use the term loosely) were driving down the road in the mountains. They stopped got out and shot a "deer". After shooting it they strung it up and skinned and gutted it. About that time the owner of the property showed up and asked them why they shot his nanny goat. These are people that are running around hunting and can't even tell the difference between a goat and a deer.

It should be a law that people should past tests before they get a license to hunt, like driving a car, and the tests should include identifying animals that are safe to hunt and what are not, pictures included

I should have responded to this also. I feed my five rescue semi-feral cats extremely well. I also have evidence, given the number of bodies I have had to dispose of this year, that my well cats are more that capable of taking care of any rodent problem. It also helps that the neighbors have enough stuff that the mama rat is content to stay with them, and not bother me.

With a smile I respond. Yes you are correct. Mousers will mouse when fed. Kind of like Terriers will kill rats and other small creatures including chickens since they were bred to kill rats on sailing ships. Just like chickens, different breeds of cats have different personallities.

I've never had a cat and cannot speak about them. I was just repeating the wisdom of my Grandma from the mid 1950's. Her cats would also eat the dog's food and she would on occasion feed them as well "to keep them around". Cats are better to have around than snakes which also eat mice, and baby chicks, and eggs.

Didn't mean to offend or ruffle any feathers.

Thanks for being kind.

Ah it's just the old country way. No harm done, we know you didn't mean any harm.

You would think so, but it is really more about how well their mothers taught them how to kill a mouse. I am at a point I think we take kittens away from their mothers much too soon. 12 to 16 weeks would be better than 6 to 8 weeks. Most of the hunting that I have observed, simply an outcome of being taught that it is fun to play with your prey. It moves let's kill it mentality. Some people think it is mean, but when you have a litter of rats born across the street, you will find that you are incredibly grateful that these well feed cats are able to take care of the problem.

Also, female cats tend to be better hunters than male cats, because they need to be to feed and teach their young.

Sort of on topic, I have a corgi terrier mix. when she finds a mouse she is torn between killing it and trying to herd it. it is sooooo funny to watch.

I guess my kitties are weird then. They are fed free choice and bring home snakes, rabbits, moles, mice, and one once took on a swamp rat and ran it off. I couldn't believe it. The thing was as big as she was! hehe, I have feisty felines
