Last Summer I posted here because I had only one Ameracauna hen, so only one blue-green egg layer. Early last summer I would get a normal size egg from her, or a small “fart egg”, which I have heard is normal for young hens occasionally. Then sometimes I’d get a regular one and a tiny one on the same day?!?! And the small eggs were perfect, with yolks. This happened all summer & I even posted here asking if anyone had a hen that would lay multiple eggs a day like this. No one did, and there were several guesses as to what might be happening, but none that made sense in my situation. I let my hens slow down laying over the winter (no lights in the coop), but this spring it started happening again! Then one day, when I went to gather eggs, there was my neighbor’s bantam Ameracauna in my nest box! Haha! Mystery solved! She liked to fly over the fence and lay in my nest boxes. I thought you might get a good laugh from this story.
