So last night when I went out to feed the ducks, I noticed something funny.

I had put a golf ball out there to try to coach them where to lay. And they had decided to put the other 'eggs' in the nest too.

So more funny things the ducks did...

My blue runner drake (who is actually gray), does this funny ritual before and after mating where he circles the yard while flapping his wings as hard as he can. Usually he circles the back once or twice. (Its not really big, plus its partitioned, so its not as big as you'd think. The garden is another section separate also.) Anyways, its funny to see him doing this.

And then something else I observed.

I had two buckets of water out in the back with the ducklings (they are separate from the adults in a smaller grass enclosure). One of the buckets had muddy water in it. The other I'd barely put out, with fresh clean water and fresh cleaned bucket. They are equal distances to them.

The puzzling thing about this, is that they went for the muddy water over and over, not the fresh clean water. ( Shocked! )
