I thought i'd start a post where we can all share some funny stories about our ducks/geese's personality quirks... I'll start us off...

My brown runner Ming Mei looooves the color red... I live in a town home and frequently take my ducks for walks around my unit's community. She wears a leash connected to a harness for her safety (cars). And she'll practically drag me walking from one red car, stopping to admire it, then running to the next to admire that one... this will go on all day if i let her, lol. She also looves being called pretty and likes to look the part. I have some bandanas and even a little dress i made her out of red satin. She'll not only let me put them on her, but she'll stand somewhere high with her head up standing perfectly still as if she won a beauty contest, gracing us all with her lovely appearence, lol.

My other fawn/white runner Victor has an opposite problem. He hates the color blue, esp anything big and blue

. He was scared of our shower curtain when he took/takes baths in the tub, he's weary of any toys they have that are blue.... If you are wearing a blue shirt he'll run away from you, and if you catch him he'll continue to freak out (but if you're wearing any other color, he has no problem being cuddly). He is afraid to get in the blue kiddie pool, unless you put him in and reassure him. Anytime we're carrying or moving around a blue container of any sort, he runs off and hides.... And here's a kicker.... When he was first feathering out and got to go outside for the first time he was afaid of the sky.... kid you not, he took one look at it peeped like crazy and ran underneath me. I picked him up to show him it was alright and he was not having it. He darted back in the house and hid under my coffee table. lol

So tell us any funny stories about your ducks and their personality stories!

I'm just glad that your boy isnt afraid of the color green. But somehow id like too see a duck jumping to keep the feet of the grass. Mine just gang up on the dog to get the dogfod.

hahaha, i picture a bunch of duck gangbangers ruffing (lol) up your dog to steal his food... lol

the bad thing is she is a pitbull mix and all she does i run to the doghouse.(yesterday she chewed down a 12inch dogbowl, not the sharpest tool in the shed) She doesnt live up to her breed though. THey know how long her chain is and will walk about 6in in front of her. The dog likes to chase them for play when she is off the chain but she never hurts them, she just tags them down with her paw, runs away from them and expects the duckers to give chase back.

I have a Pilgrim gander who was over-trained for live harvesting down. To convince him to willingly give up his molting down, we decided to sit with him with his favorite feed (a meat maker/broiler crumble) and pluck him while he ate.

Once he finally associated with picked up = goodies it took forever for him to stop trying to climb up your leg.

Over the winter we're not harvesting down and he's become calm again. I dread to see how lovable he might become this spring
