We go through this every week, so I thought I'd share. Well, even though my pekin duck Sunny has a touch of bumblefoot she's still frisky as usual. She had a big meal tonight so I'm guessing she's feeling a little bit better! Anyways, after feeding her I let my dog Paw out to go to the bathroom. Even though he's part beagle, which like to hunt. He's still not used to animals that don't try to run away. He of course runs up to her, barking as loud as he can. And since he's 12, almost 13, his bark is pretty pathetic. Sunny as usual, doesn't flinch. Just stares, as if saying "It ain't gonna work on me...". He lets out a low whimper and continues on with his buisness. After finishing he jumps onto his favorite chair. Sunny, who was sitting in her cage waddles out to pester poor Paw. Paw just barks, Sunny continues closer and closer. She'll waddle up to his feet, and pick on his toes. He hates it, and yelps as if in pain. Sunny runs back into her cage, and waits for a few more minutes. And does it again, lol. My neighbors often think I'm abusing my dog, and believe it or not. The police have been called down here to investigate once before. My parents had to show them that it's just my dog and duck. When we told them that, they just stared and said, "excuse me? Duck?" Anyways, to make a long story short, my dog is a whimp. Sunny has a sense of humor. And I have a strange pet duck.

I was wondering if anyone else had stories of their ducks doing silly things.

Thats just to cute! Give one to the duck! Yay!!! She really doesn't hurt Paw, does she? I hope not. It does sound like your silly duck does have a humorous streak!

Hurt him? Nah, lol. It's just her game I guess lol, she only picks on his toe nails. Paw hates it when other animals pick on him. So he just yelps.

Someone from byc posted this video back over summer of a duck their dog brought home... the duck would not leave the poor dog alone... the dog was really well behaved though!

I have a Labrador called Ali who is also getting to be an oldie and now adopts anything (bunnies, small fuzzy animals ect) after her puppies. I got my first two scovie ducklings and started raising them (Ali looked after them, too) and they lovedto chew on her... like her ear and fur. When we fed Ali the duckies would join in, and back then she didnt mind because they were babies, but when they grew older she started to growl when they ate her food with her (pretty funny watching a dog and two duck heads stuck into a bowl) and they'd punish her by pecking her. If anyone has a lab you'd know they LOVE their food and usually nothing can get in their way. Ali, since the ducks will always be her babies, didn't do anything after that so when she annoys the ducks they chase her around the yard. very funny to watch

I really need to get pictures of my ducks and dog cuddling up together one of these days, its sooo cute!

We are currently looking to rescue a lab, and my husband keeps saying, "You know what labs are bred to do? Carry ducks around in their mouths!!". And my ducks are not afraid of dogs, as our last dog never had a chance of catching them. But I am confidant that we can get everyone to get along!

Ahh yes, but they are supposed to be soft mouthed so as not to "ruin" the duck

Your story is very cute... Sounds like you need to invite your neighbors over at supper time
