I'm so glad you posted this. We have 2 Indian runner ducklings that are 2 weeks old. They keep getting the wood shavings intheir box all wet. I'll try your milk jug idea.

You have to make sure they can only get their heads in comfortably or you may end up with a duck inside the milk jug. then adjust size of hole as they grow. you don't want to end up with thisI'm so glad you posted this. Absolutely!! And to be honest I think I originally saw the jug idea (and the wire mesh covered pan catcher) on here. Beautiful babies!! It is so exciting when there feathers start coming in!!I switched to milk jugs for water and bought a bigger feeder today to try to keep up with them. I took them outside this past weekend while it was in the mid 70's and showed them the joys of eating the clover and dandelions in my yard! Between those and bugs they will never be hungry again!
Here they are at 4 weeks old, they are half feathers and half fluff.

The ducks find new ways to crack me up every day. They have been outside for a couple weeks now and are starting to learn the routine.
Around 7pm Evie and I go out to put them in the coop for the night. We freshen up their water, dump and refill their pool, freshen up their food, add more straw to the pen and coop as needed then Evie picks some greens for them and we herd them into the coop to eat the greens. We shut them in the coop at night to keep them safe.
Tonight they kept walking onto the coop then quacking at us and walking back out. I think they were telling us to hurry up and get them their greens!
