I have two ducks (long story) I have had them for three years now.
Mary Lou is a pekin and Quakers (male) is a mallard/pekin cross.
Mary Lou has always been a prolific layer and likes to lay about the yard.
Well this year she found the "perfect" spot a clump of pompass grass. I generally don't mess with the eggs and usually the local coon and possum population find them and then she moves her nest. I don't want any more ducks.
She has twelve eggs now and decided that she wants to be a momma, well sort of!!!. For the past week she sits on her eggs all day long then when she sees me come out at dusk to lock up the chickens here she comes and I open the chicken house door and her and Quakers go in for the night as always. Then in the morning after a quick bite to eat, drink, quick bath it's off to sit on her nest all day again. I guess she figures the kids are on their own during the night, she's just not going to tangle with any night time creature, she's going to where it's safe.
