I think this goes here but heres my question.

My NN hen is a little more naked than she should be (roosters

). She is getting a little sunburn on her bidy so my question is: can I put sunscreen on her and if so can I use any kind or should I use a natural brand or something?

Make her a chicken saddle. that way you don't have to worry about toxicity of sunscreen, etc.

that will also protect her from the rooster's ahem...attentions.

You can buy saddles or make your own. You can even make one out of duct tape.

Do a search for 'saddle'

or 'saddle and pattern'

or 'saddle and tape'

and see what you can find!

That comes with the aging process and is nothing to worry about, we used to joke that they were the original red-necks in the breed club. If she has the tuft of feathers on her neck look under them, that part is red too. Here is a pic of one of our breeders that is kept in a fully covered hutch and out of the direct sunlight.
