I am using an old Rainer pre fab woodshed from heartland (bought at lowes 5 years ago) as a coop, I put in roosting bars but the chickens just used my roosting bars as a ladder to get to the 1x4 pieces of wood used to stabilize the rafters as their roost at night. This evening just before sunset I replaced the 1x4's (2 of them) with 6 2x2's, as I was doing this a couple of hens wanted to roost an hour before sunset but there was no where to roost as I had taken down the 1x4's and was in the process of spacing out where I was going to put up the 2x2's. They started roosting on lumber as I was trying to move it into place, they started roosting on me, my arms and shoulders and legs (I have to lay down in the loft section of the coop to put the bars in place) they even tried roosting on my cordless drill as I was using it! this slowed me down so much that by the time I finished with 2 roosting bars all of the chickens had come in and were roosting on everything, the ladder I used to get to the loft, my tools, my arms, my legs... 32 chickens overwhelmed me that I just put in 2 bars (enough for the amount of chickens I have now) and I will put the other 4 in place in the morning after all of them leave the coop. It was a chaotic mess but I have to admit it was fun and a funny story to tell.

LOL Wow. It sounds like when it was time for bed nothing was stopping them. Thanks for sharing a funny story.
