We have all heard of the sad part of butchering, this thread is to discuss the funny/weird events that happen. Yesterday I processed 3 cockerels, and one of them managed to fly out of the bucket after slitting his throat, and run towards the broody turken. She beat him up one last time, and started drinking blood with her chicks! After collecting the now dead cockerel she hung around and ate all of the lungs, kidneys and small pieces of fat, of course feeding it to the chicks, who wolfed them down as well. Kind of messed up since four months ago she was feeding those same 3 cockerels as day-old babies. Now that I shared mine, let's hear yours!

Talk about carnivorous! :eek::lau

When one of our most aggressive EE boys went on a date with the chopping block (we employ a more primitive method of culling), he did a lot of jumping before finally settling down. All that motion incited another cockerel's instincts, who immediately began sparring with the headless "monster." This went on for quite a while. :lol:

Perhaps my favorite took place when we were (unfortunately) forced to do away with our adorable, but oh-so-evil Silkie. My mother let go of his legs once the deed was done.....a mistake. No matter where she attempted to escape the hopping, he would follow, spraying blood her direction. I still say he was getting his revenge even to the very end.

talking about roos that have lost their connection to their head, do you have any good recipes? I am making one ala coq au vin sous vide, the other two I am open to suggestions.
