funny/weird things that happen during butchering

I'm planning to put mine in a casserole dish, cover in chicken broth, and cook at 200F until they're done, at least a few hours. I pieced them all out when I butchered them so that I could do them that way, as the last one I put in the crock pot whole cooked too fast and everything above the liquid was hard and tough. I just don't trust crock pots anymore, it seems like every one we've had cooks hotter than it should.

That is why I love sous vide, since you can control the temps to within half a degree of your desired temperature. Plus it pasteurizes the food so you can store it in the fridge for
Weeks.

We have all heard of the sad part of butchering, this thread is to discuss the funny/weird events that happen. Yesterday I processed 3 cockerels, and one of them managed to fly out of the bucket after slitting his throat, and run towards the broody turken. She beat him up one last time, and started drinking blood with her chicks! After collecting the now dead cockerel she hung around and ate all of the lungs, kidneys and small pieces of fat, of course feeding it to the chicks, who wolfed them down as well. Kind of messed up since four months ago she was feeding those same 3 cockerels as day-old babies. Now that I shared mine, let's hear yours!
I had a cockerel get out of the holding cage prior to butchering and found him sitting quietly right outside the cage waiting patiently for me to get him next. (He watched me but her several of his brothers already!)
I've also had 2 cockerels get out of the cone after slitting their jugulars- I came back to find both cockerels sweetly hunting and pecking all around the kill cone. The funny/gruesome part is that they are mostly white chickens and the ring of dripping blood coming from their necks made it look like they were from a weird chicken zombie movie! They didn't seem to care one bit about their 'injuries.'

Same look on yesterday's cockerel. Made the whole ordeal much easier.
