Fused toes - a genetic defect or incubation issue? Pics

Just a quick update: I decided to contact the seller to get her opinion. She's a really great seller (and person) and I've purchased from her before. She's truly an honest seller. She has offered to make it right by either sending another roo or refunding my money. Since she raised the bird and was nice enough to ship him to me, I told her it was not necessary to refund my money. I'm at all upset, just curious since I've never seen anything like this before. He's not having any trouble getting around at all. I had to chase him around the pen to catch him! Thanks for all your help.

One of my buff brahmas has exactly the same problem, but it does not seem to impair him in any way. I call him 2Toe.

Greenfamily - what did the seller have to say about the fused toes, though? I'm super curious to know...

Well, basically she is as puzzled as I am! Here is a portion of her message:

"Well, keep an eye out and especially the babies to see what happens. I sold eggs all year and havent had any reports of others with fused toes but I will keep a look out for any new news."

Well, she definitley sounds like she's concerned, and a good breeder. I bet it's just an incubation error since no one else has seen the defect.
