1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens, 4.30.20
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Chicks hatched on a Wednesday (4.29.20) I got 12 chicks on Thursday, then Friday 7 more and Saturday 4 more. I'm done- we got enough lol.
Those that don't like math that is 23 total.
(3) What breeds do you have?
4-Americana, 2-Rhode Island Reds, 2-Gold Wyndotte & 2-Silver Wyndotte, 3-Bard Plymouth Rocks, 3-Buff Orpingtons, and finally 7-Black Sex-Links. 7 because 4 were remaining on Saturday and two are probably male, so got 4 for the price of two.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? That will be the fresh eggs & fresh meat,
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, reading, camping, hiking, .....
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My 4 kids are grown (18-26) and none live with me. My husband & I rescued Gidget, a golden lab & pit mix about a year n a half ago . So far she is very interested in the chicks wanting to mother them.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
came across the site while doing research on google, seemed like a no brainier
