I LOVE having a mixed flock. I currently have 5 hens, all different breeds, and I am dreaming of all the breeds I want to get. I was told with my 145 sq ft coop I could have up to 36 chickens. Mine are free ranged almost all day everyday. So now I’m planning what I want to get this spring and it is so hard to decide. I will be ordering from ideal poultry and the following are a list of chickens I want, not saying I will get all of these.
I live in central Texas and I am curious if all of these will do good in my climate and being free ranged.
I prefer unique and docile/super sweet hens

Standard sized:
Easter egger
Buff Brahma
Dark Brahma
Blue Cochin
Red Cochin
Salmon faverolle
Mottled houdan
Black giant
Sultan
Naked neck
Columbian Wyandotte
Silver Wyandotte
Partridge Wyandotte
Blue Andalusian
Cream legbar
Barred rock

I would love to hear your opinions on any of these wether i should or shouldn’t get them. Or if you have any in mind that would be great for what I’m looking for please suggest them!
Thanks!

Are you looking in the future to have one main flock rooster?
I have an Americana rooster (which was my dream rooster and I finally found him!!!)
Easter eggers are so fun! They are super sweet and I just love their puffy cheeks and different unique colors you can get. I recommend them 100%!
I am planning on breeding my Easter eggers next spring with my American rooster and hope I get some beautiful chicks out of them *picture down below is my Americana rooster, King Rosco)*
I don’t have any brahmas but I’ve heard they are wonderful!
I have a silver laced Wyandotte and she is gorgeous Although not the friendliest

barred rocks I’ve heard they are friendly, I don’t have any but hoping to get some in the future.
Rhode Island reds are the friendliest chickens I have ever had and mine are so sweet and docile and super amazing and goofy!
Good luck!!!

He is so handsome! I wish I could have a rooster, but we have an
air Bnb next door and I dont think the guests would appreciate being woken up that early. Easter eggers are definitely at the top of my list for their personalities and the variation in colors! Thanks for the input on the other breeds!
