Fuzzy's Farm

OH NO YOU DON'T! Ours aren't "stinkers", they are EVIL TERRORS!!!

Can't even go into the pen to feed them, had to toss it over the edge because i valued my kneecaps. I made DH do the water changing, unless it was to toss that over, as well. Rotten buggers would knock me over to get out, and forget coming when called! The ringleader ran wild for the week DH tried to go up north to camp with his dad.....................Slipped UNDER the fence! Then put himself away when he felt like it. Never in front of me so i could see his hidey spot! Grr. And wouldn't you know he lurked in the woods by his pen until DH came back, but upon seeing DH leave he immediatly snuck out and raided DH's hot pepper patch!!! Yup, only the hot pepper patch though he loved corn. Spit the peppers out and did a goatee la la la na na bo bo dance! And that's just an example of their sweetness. Idk how many times the rotten ringleader peed on me, especially seemed to like getting it in my shoes! Or peeing in his beard and smearing it all over me before i could get out!

DH finally gave them back to the friend who "gifted" us with them , at $5 a bale and rising it was getting too much.

SO, you don't have them no more then?

AH! I have been meaning to post about the selenium BYFM... Are you giving Nugget poly vi sol? OR what ever the heck it is? What you want to do, start with a fresh bottle. Take a selenium tab, crush 1/2 of it, and add it to the polyvisol.
I read one tablet for .5 bottle of poly vi sol. But that seems like a lot...
He is getting poly vi sol everyday and vit E (because poly has none in it)
I did crush up a womans daily vit that has selenium in it and put it in some egg but he had a hard time eating it on his own even with me holding him.
Now that I have the holding technique perfected maybe I could try a little more tomorrow in some malt o meal mash.
Oh man did he kick and flap to get me away from his mouth before... now he has no choice (he still tried to nip me with his beak though)

Very chatty tonight. I've been sitting here quizzing my daughter for her economics test tomorrow and trying to keep up with all your posts and I honestly can't remember half of what I read. LOL

Cute goats MsB. I have a couple of nigerian dwarfs.

Boomer is a character and Bailey is a sweetie.

Idk if that's what farmerboy dipped with, i thought it was something else. He gave the hens the denaguard for a set time (can't remember exact) to reduce the "shed rate" of the bacteria, then when they were at a low level of infection he started saving the eggs and dipped them for extra measure. Dipping seemed to cost him 50% of the hatch, though. :(

MG/ CRD has NO resistance to the denaguard whatsoever, the only reason it is not a 100% cure rate is if there is damaged lung tissue it can't penetrate that tissue and kill the nasties in there. I would like to find out what meds do get into that tissue! If i remember correct when i researched it before doxycycline was ok to team with that kind of antibiotic. That is sold as "bird biotic" sometimes in pet stores and online. I am thinking to do the denaguard first, , then finish up with the doxycycline to get the stragglers? I am unsure how hard that would be on their immune system, though.

I can't find it tonight, but there was another BYCer who documented her journey to finding out what her flock had, and what the vet said. Basically he told her not to cull because he believed her flock to have the "wild" strain of it that the little birdfeeder birds carry, and since that form was mild it was better than the other one and the birds would be better protected in case the other strain came along.

So i am torn between wanting to treat, and letting well enough alone. If one were to be able to effectively kill the MG, though, you could potentially vaccinate? Right?
Lots of $$$ but things that haunt me about my birds and their health.

Now I'm beyond confused. According to Australia information/resources - there are 2 Silkies. The "Silkie" and the "Silkie bantam" whereas here in the US (as far as I know) there are only the bantam (tiny) variety??

Australia standards says 4lbs and bantam 20 ounces?

I thought there was only 1 kind of Silkie and "varieties" within the breed in regard to *color/beard/neck only* - didn't know there was more than one size of Silkie.

Is Australia on the "you can't import their chickybabies" list or are they on the "yup you can" list? Actually never mind I'll go look myself LOL

He dipped his eggs in Tylan powder.

They're awesome. And they started laying early too, about 20 weeks. I have two now, but have had more in the past. Maggie and June.

It's funny how different they look. Maggie is hardly white at all, and Maggie probably has more white than anything else.
They are beautiful, MsB! I'm definitely going to get some chicks.

Yippieeeeeeeee Congrats

Well, my daughter had a doozie seizure at school today. She had Three seizures within fifteen minutes. Fell face first onto the floor and bounced her head violently on the classroom floor and table leg before they got it cleared away and something under her head; She has a huge bruise on her chin, a goose egg on her forehead- side of her face is swollen. She was unresponsive and unconscious for two and a half hours. Throughout the ambulance ride, fluids, CT scan... out cold.

I found out today that she has a 'cyst' in the right temporal lobe of her brain- and nobody ever told me.

I have a whole lot of questions with that diagnosis- mainly, why has nobody ever told me?
How do they know its a cyst without doing an MRI? A cat is really just a soft-tissue xray; how do they know its a cyst? How did it get there? AND again why has nobody ever told me? They said they compared it back to March 2007 and the size has never changed.
Did I mention that nobody has ever told me?

New medicine tonight. Wait for it.......
She has vicodin for head pain- and she is fourteen...and now he gave us a new seizure med. Side effect? headache.

I cant function any more. I am mentally exhausted. Ive been at the ER since 1. I need to go to bed so I can get up and do it all over again- well, hopefully no ER but I still have to get up and go to work. .
I'd also be furious, Mom2. Is there another doctor you could get a second opinion from. You also have to take care of yourself because if you aren't good, then you can't help. I know it's so hard but I'd keep knocking on doors until someone figures this out.
I walk my goats. They all have collars too.

I love your goats. Ours are a bit terrorist also. They've decided to not go in the barn at night and we are just as determined that they will go in the barn. It's a regular standoff at sleepy hollow..
I want pygmies!!! Ever since I saw one I wanted a pair!
I'm going to post a pic of the two little doelings that were just born that we are getting. They are nigerian dwarfs so our little herd is half pygmy and half nigerian.
