Fuzzy's Farm

* yawn and stretch * I slept in for a change. :)
Thinking today looks like a good day to go buy those socks. And some woodchips or something for the coop, i want to do the deep bedding thing again this year. I am hoping if i get the smaller pine chips i can sift them like cat litter? I also need to look for some different meds for little sharma, all the other birds look ok but she is badly congested and coughing. :( I have tried to show her where the spot by the babies is, where the light from the heat lamp shines out and she could warm a little but she's kinda flighty.

The best thing you can get is Tylan powder and LS-50. 1 teaspoon of each in a gallon of water. That stuff works wonders. Plus it is for MG also

My Bizarre Dog And Her Bizarre Problems

This is my dog, Sadie:

Cute, isn't she?

These are her current problems:

  • Pooping on beds
  • Peeing on beds
  • Destroying beds (She should not be allowed in bedrooms at all)
  • Eating and rolling in chicken poop (Yumm and it is sooooo much fun!!! She is masking her scent.)
  • Constantly antagonizing Penny, our other dog (High energy. She needs to be worn out.)
  • Barking, howling, whining, and barking some more (Anxiety and High energy... she needs a more creative outlet)
  • Getting up on the kitchen table and counters (Chairs must be pushed in!!)
  • Digging (Anxiety and high energy)
  • Eating anything and everything
  • Oh, and did I mention barking?
  • Barking at footsteps in the hall at midnight and waking me up
  • Peeing on guests out of sheer excitement (This is because they go "EEEEE!!! She is soooo cute!!" Mother dogs make high pitched noises to make their puppies "go" while they are cleaning them/ nursing.) (Or she is showing that she is submitting)
  • Bolting (High energy)

I have tried everything:

  • Professional Training
  • Discipline
  • Crating
  • Training at home
  • Spending Extra Time with her
  • Using Baby Gates

Nothing works!

Tonight she:

  • Pooped on my brother's bed
  • Peed on my mothers bed
  • And ate chicken poop and a stray mealworm

    (YUMMMM...)

I am completely out of ideas. I think she is a dud. She must have a brain the size of a walnut! (Probably...)
Okay... here is my professional opinion

She is extremely hyper and disobedient because she doesn't know any other way to use her energy up.
FIX:
Lots of play time! She is a puppy and puppies love to play.
Lots of toys BUT only one or 2 out at a time. When you find a favorite... buy a few.
When she brings the toy to you during playtime "Good girl!" And you can use excited high pitch tones... unless she pittles.

She is soiling the house... Not acceptable, barring that she has no health issues... UTI or worms
FIX:
She must be tethered to her owner... if this is you...
You must have her on a leash with her harness or collar at ALL TIMES when she is in the house. Hook it to your belt or belt loop or around your waist.
If you are not home or cannot have her tethered to you... outside for potty then in the crate, but not for long periods of time.
She CANNOT go in any of the bedrooms with out you.
While she is tethered if she starts to squat... take her out.

Barking
FIX:
Make the sound "CHT" and nip her like a mother dog would do on her back hip.
If she is out of control (at that moment) there is no way to stop her. You must correct her before she gets out of control.
Say that 0 is calm, 1-2 is pricking up her ears and looking at what she is going to bark at, 3 is the rumble before the bark, 5 is the bark, then 6-10 is barking. You must stop correct her before 5. If she continues... she gets crated.
Being crated is NOT FUN... No blankies... no food... no toys.

Pittling when people come over.
FIX:
Instruct guests to ignore her until she is calm.
No high pitched baby voices or squeals.
This sometimes is corrected with age or being fixed.

I know... just send her to my house.... I will have her a model citizen in a week or 2

I have a few inches of pine chips in my coop... I just scoop the piles up from under the roosts. It is nice.
I hope you get her better.

Quote: i normally dont but had no choice when first zilla baby was trying to destroy the quails...the second one is doing ok after i helped him pip more he is about halfway out and im leaving him to it ... havent opened the bator since i helped him ...he isnt shrink wrapped anymore than the little he was yesterday so ive let him be and hoping for the best ... had dh move the quail eggs while i helped the second guy pip so i shouldnt have to open it again til all the ducks are out ..... got a third egg rocking and rolling now and the fourth is just sitting there ....

Quote: Tiny is supposedly at full size ... when i remeasured for the diaper she was same size although she did look like shed grown a little ... the roo she is talking to is a d'uccle and unless he has stopped growing is going to be too big for tiny the terror ... he was just smaller than the others i got so quarantined him in my room til i can get everyone resituated after quarantine ...

Unbelievable! Lot's of wierd stuff going on today - so much for a democratic society - equal opportunity for all - ha... We went to vote and they had us 'redistricted'. Had to go to the other end of the building where 'our' district was voting although we have voted in this same place for years. I was fairly hacked off about it. If it was like this in OK where there are no stakes at all I can only imagine FL and OH. geeesh!

JUst how my luck goes when i finally agree to go out to vote they wont let me ....

2nd ducky finally came out of the egg completely ... third one is still rocking some and 4th actually looked like it had moved from where i put it .... but could just mean the others movement could have caused that ....the first duck out - named supplies - is doing good and the 2nd one -- named closet -- looks ok .. he did have a little swollen belly and looks like one leg may be a little off but did make it out of the egg on his own after the little help i gave him !!!!

His membrane looks really thick compared to the one that was in supplies egg .. and i have trouble with some of the eggs cracking them when i make cakes so maybe that was the problem ... i only helped with pipping last night then let nature take over .... he is starting to dry and peeping good though !!! i forgot how AWWWWW baby ducks are and what a mess they can make lol

Well im working offline on the tiny thread ..any ideas on this ... since it was ya'll's idea too lol thinking a main introductory post then a halloween post so far .. what do ya'll think ?

I think I did something good/bad... A friend of my mom asked me to find a home for someones dog. They are taking him to the shelter tomorrow.
I don't know if there is anything wrong with him... he looks sweet!
