Fuzzy's Farm

I have an ill pullet. she is not eating, hunched into herself. I smelled her breath for sour crop, it does feel squishy, but again not eating. So? No sour smell.

As for vouching for fuzzy's coop, she does keep it very very neat.
like i said, lap chickens are only cute if the floor is clean! I have had hens get impatient and fly on my head, ya, the ones who always stepped in it if it was there.............Not my cocoa, she was always careful. :) I scrape it every day with a shovel (linoleum) and mop the floor and perches every 2-3 days with lavendar scented bleach water after kicking everyone out. (my $$ store sells it, the flies don't seem to like that smell) I also squish as many flies as possible if they've gotten into the camper :) That's why my birds seem to be smiling with their eyes in the pics, it's because they are!

Hm. idk on the hen. If she is only drinking, it would feel squishy too. You havta get more details. Put your ear up to her chest/back, make sure it isn't a sickness from the weather first. You need to know what color her poo is..........I am at a loss, but if you had more details they may be able to help you on the emergency section. :(

I am going to ask the doctor what she thinks is best. I would rather not put him on antibiotics again. This time I think we caught it early enough. Hopefully she will have some good advice. She is all about the natural cough syrups and honey... so I think she will understand and not try to pushantibiotics right away if there is something else that could be done first.

Watch me eat my words tomorrow...

Have you already tried the ear oil stuff for kids? There is a natural one that i think has garlic in it? I have seen that one recommended over and over.

took the tape off, just to examine again and does look like it started to spraddle. :( Anyone did this one? I know to tape, and i had to put her in a butter tub with a washcloth donut. The others keep stepping on her head, and she seems to be pained if she isn't propped. I know it can right itself, but how long are we talking here???

are they going to use the slide? I'd get it for the kids...

her poop... Well where she roosts, and she is evil about it, looks normal. I was thinking the weather could have something to do with it. Eyes are clear, nose is clear, breathing is fine. I poultry drenched her, we'll see what happens over the next few. She may end up in the hospital box with a heat lamp and special treatment... She looks like how Miss Isa/Rocky Rhodes did when he had an inflamed gizzard. Everything seems the same... I will have to look at anatomy, feel up a non ill chicken another her and see...

I tried oil last time... Not specifically ear drop oil... but almost every home remedy you can think of... I tried it!

I think I caught it early so if she says I can try oils first I will. I like when doctors say "try this first... if it doesn't help, call and I will get you a script"

My OB was like that. She trusted that I knew my body and if I had an issue I could just call her.
