Oh, I meant to tell you all, we have close friends who have a small place in the wilds of northern Michigan. Every year they spend their summers up there working on it. Their goal is to live totally off the grid. They've dug a well and added solar heating and plan on raising chickens. She's retiring at the end of the year and he's going to do the same in May so we may be losing them in OK soon - sob. But they absolutely love MI. Small world...

Yes, through the years we've had many rough spots, and before this it was always MY place and he was the one wanting to go............ It will be a Looooooong time before i put myself in a position like this again! I don't like being alone, but it sure is nice to not have so much cleaning! And i sleep so much better!

I may take in my littlest sis if it is possible. She's freshly graduated, quiet and mousy. She is in that in-between stage where she is almost an adult, still very much needs guidance...... my other sis tried but she has a full house with her 3 kids, and my mom isn't doing good financially either.......... so there she is, stuck! I may be just the person to teach her what she needs to know. Also, she wants to learn to cook............ a girl after my own heart!

That sounds really great and probably would be so good for your little sis. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you 'cause I know how hard transitions are - BUT they are so much easier than being unhappy all the time!

I saw how hard she worked for that. She set herself a goal when these classed started and she reached It. An example to her kids!

Thanks, Rusty! You can come visit the babies any time - ha. We are getting three but I didn't have the pic for the last one. She is what is call "moonspotted" - black with a blend of brown, gray and white spots. I'll send pics when we get them all home.

Yay! just hope the township don't mess with them, though.......... MI is beautiful but the powers that be are always on the lookout for ways to get $$$ !

Friends of mine lost their home to a fire a couple years ago, and this fall they decided to pitch a tent on their property and stay weekends; wouldn't you know the neighbors complained and the cops told them they couldn't do that?! rediculous. (neighbors are new, total jackwagons) This gal has lived there for 10 years and now every time they go out to their own garage they get harassed

I have long wanted to go off the grid, but highly against the rules! you gotta be far from neighbors. (Though my other sis lives near amish, i have wondered if that may be the way to go. They sure aren't going to rat if you start going self sufficient! )

Got to get busy! The rain has stopped with the white stuff mixed in so I better get out and finish putting up my outdoor decorations. When I am finished I'll have about 5,000 lights.
