Fuzzy's Farm

and while roaming around on her site i came across this http://www.louisescountrycloset.com/chicken-duck-diapers/?sort=featured&page=2
in the "chicken saddles and diapers, who knew" article......... I can sew pretty good, but i think these look better than i could do...... i still want me a house chicken, lol. Just think of it...... My girl used to lay at my neck when i snoozed in the lawn chair. I bet a house chicken would do the same. :D Just as good as a cat!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
I hope everyone has had a happy holiday season!
Deep litter you clean out more like once or twice a year......
I tried it this fall. It was fine for the first three weeks then the fourth week it started to smell. I have boards under the roosts that I dump daily. They really don't poop that much in the coop (except under the roosts) and I can usually get away with cleaning it once a month, sometimes I can do it once every two months in the summer (since they're in the coop less) and more often in the winter. I would rather spend an hour cleaning once a month rather than an entire day every six months anyways...........
I guess I don't do the deep litter method then... I put a lot of pine chips in the coop (several inches worth) and just shovel off the top as needed. The coop is 3'x4' so there is enough space for roosting and nesting boxes, they don't hangout in the coop at all. they have a covered run.

None of them wanted to come out and touch the 2" of snow we got last night... I even tried to coax them out with scrambled eggs and peas!!!
I cracked open a few of Noodles eggs today... the first time we have eaten her eggs... The shells were so thick!
Dh's dad is staying at a place where they have pet birds, i was really saddened the other day to see how pitiful their cockatoo was. :( The guy has had birds for years, but talking to him it was clear that he had no real medical understanding. Poor bird got a bad crop, he didn't say whether it was bacterial or fungal; he at least took her to the vet, but i really think she needs to go back. My banties are far heavier than she was, that's how much weight she had dropped. Poor thing's crop was the size of a marble, that was it. Liquid poop. All huge red flags, i suggested some supplementation and i got blown off. I started talking about what i've done with chickens, how i've helped them with nursing; nope. "we had chickens for years, never had any get sick" Hmm. Well, that's a medical marvel since all critters get sick now and then, especially if you've had large numbers. All i know is i've seen that look in a birds eyes, that sad and desolate look that says they don't really want to make it. She is affectionat, too, like my cocoa was. Put her head in the crook of my neck. Part of her sadness is her original owner died, part of it is not being understood. She's plucking herself nearly bald, too. All red flags, either nutritional or emotional; i stated that the supplement her plumage and i get "all birds molt" For most of a year????! And the only grit i saw was sand, not nearly big enough to help her. :(
ULK... makes me want to just steal her!!! :( I hate people sometimes.
He is doing great! The antibiotic has been working, just got some itchies from the rash. Went home last night (yay) wound up like an eight day clock going for the ninth!
Good! I was so worried about him!
i still want me a house chicken, lol. Just think of it...... My girl used to lay at my neck when i snoozed in the lawn chair. I bet a house chicken would do the same. :D Just as good as a cat!
Just do it!!! LOL I want pics!!! :)

We got some awesome goodies today!
DS was very happy with all of his loot and Santa pulled through with the 2 things DS asked for. He got a ton of action figures... I think BF was more than happy to play with DS with them!! Most of what we got him was little things... everyone else got him the biggest items at the store it seems!!! *sigh*

I got to witness a very rare moment in life... My dad is a man that has no use for animals unless they are to be eaten... He played with my puppy and let her sleep on his feet

Maybe he is growing soft in his old age

She got to sleep in our bed last night because it was her first night away from all of her family

Today she got transported in a purse and thought she was the queen of the world!!!

My toe is swollen and I can't figure out exactly what I did to it...I have abused my feet pretty good this week...

Maybe it was my new kicks from my SIL... that should have come with a pole...

Or my new boots I wore home tonight... either way OUCH!!!

It's been a long two days for me. I was so bushed last night at the family party and I felt bad about it because I was so quiet and didn't say much, but I had a second chance today at the second family party with the across state relatives. Everything was great and I got to have turkey. Yeah! I never get turkey unless someone else makes it. Anyway, there was only one thing missing the last couple of days. No sugar cookies! I didn't have time to make any and my SIL didn't do them, either. I've been wanting a sugar cookie all day, but there were none to be found.

The only new kicks I got were comfy slippers. Love them. One can never underestimate comfy slippers.

Get this, too, DH bought me my own rotisserie chicken cooker. Seriously. Cooks 2 birds at a time or a 15lb turkey (

). Now if I can just remember to take the time to set it up and actually use it...LOL

That puppy is so cute... Nice stripper/hooker shoes! LOL

Well the day has come to an end. WOOT! So ready for bed it is not funny.

Glad I do not have to work tomorrow. Going to try and stay off my feet as much as I can tomorrrow too and read my library book. I am in love with Elizabeth Peters. The woman is so loquacious... Not sure if that is really the right word... but the book are a very fun read. Seriously proper diction. It is great. VERBOSE! That is the word I was looking for... Anyway, I really do enjoy it. I think you may enjoy her as well, Tee. If you can do audiobook while working, you have to get one of them. Barbara Rosnblath narrates, and OMG she is so good doing it too.

Anyway. have a great nite everyone. Hope the winter prediction for tomorrow isn't to bad.

OH, and I think that my last GLW is having laying issues. She is in the garage under the heat lamp. Her choice. I watched her straining, and she seems to be having a problem. I felt her up and no eggs are stuck. She is still walking normal, but... God, I will never buy dottes from townline again. How the double hockey sticks can all 3 of the dottes I got from them have repro issues? Just very disheartening. I don't turn the light in the garage for the most part. I do when I open the garage and let the ones in there out, but other than that, it is only the red light and the light that comes in through the windows. Well, anyway. Hope that her being in the garage will put a damper on her laying. Going to treat her with antibiotics for EYP. I just hope she'll not go the way of the other 2 that passed away shortly after starting to lay. She's been laying for about 2 months... GAH!

LOL, the only new kicks I am going to be getting are inserts to raise the arch more on my foot that has the plantar fascitis with the heal spur. Shift the weight away from the heal more on that side. Inner side of the left heal...

Neighbor made us sugar cookies. I made them homemade banana cream pudding with wafers, bananas, and meringue topping.

Nope. Can't do audiobooks in the mail truck, but I'll look into her books next time I can get to the library. I have to work the rest of this week and I have a feeling I'm going to get pretty tired after today since it's 2:30am and I'm not on bed yet. My sleep cycle is out of whack. I stayed up late Christmas Eve to finish the wrapping and was up early the next day. Wound up taking a 4 hour nap @6pm so now I'm awake, but needing to nap again before 6am or I'm going to be totally zonked by the time I get home.

I have 2 dottes that I got from townline and I've not had any problem with them other than one with feathering issues on her back end that I'm certain are caused by the roo.

I didn't make any treats. No time and too tired. Told DH today, though, that I will make him all the treats he wants on Sunday to make up for it including New Year's type since he has to work that night. To which he promptly started talking about the chicken I can make for him in that cooker.....

Yup Definitely date-night material!

As to the house chicken, as soon as i get a place other than where i'm staying now......... I tried to get a trailer in town that was being given away, but i found out that even if i get approved i still need to come up with $700-$800 for deposit, rent, etc, then have $$$ to buy a stove and fridge, carpet...... and so on. Whew! All i can do is save and hope i get it before someone else, It's been there for a while so i'm guessing i would have to get $$ before tax returns, that is probably what others are waiting on! They are wanting a credit score of 500 too, not from me! Sheesh. If i had that i would be getting a real house!!!

I wasn't going to stay in coopersville, i hate it here; but they came down on that trailer's rent and that is in my budget, and the location would mean not getting rid of my chickens.....

(i would keep hope, of course. Not getting rid of her, she's too much like my cocoa was. It would pretty nearly kill me to let her go)

Hiya Gigi. Hope you had a good Christmas.

I just came in from watering and treat feeding. Today is was hot oatmeal, peas, carrots, left over chicken nuggets broke into small peices, 3 eggs and shells, and left over biscuits. SO, quite the feast today. Florus, of course, got his own little plate in the coop. I have a waterer and a clamp light over it in the coop for him to have constant water. He will not come out of the coop into the main run unless everyone is gone. Poor guy. No, I haven't made his and his future wives their pen yet. I am so slacking!

Neice is over for the day to entertain herself and the boys. YES! SO, II may get through my book. I probably won't. Thinking a pizza run may be in order. Me, I am going to nosh on some ham and potatoes and mac and cheese left overs. Yes, we had a simple dinner. Only one dessert. Amazing! Ham, mac and cheese(real cheesy), au gratin taters, wax beans, maple and brown sugar baked beans, and fruit and banana pudding. Yup, just a regular old meal.

Anyway. Bitter windy today. Think the birds will stay in the run until a bit later though. Saw a few larger and smaller hawks circling the blueberry feild across the street... Yeah, nope.

Merry Christmas a day late, Everyone! My computer crashed with a BAD virus so ended up with new computer. Bad thing was I had to change all my account passwords and even shut down my bank account and reopen a new one. What a pain. But Christmas went off great and I'm so happy it's all over.

One of the orpingtons was killed last night by either a raccoon or possum. Our fault which is really horrible. DH closed up the coop but didn't think to count heads and left the girl outside. I found her this morning. DH was really upset - I don't think he'll do that again.

Love those shoes. I wouldn't even attempt to walk in them - would kill myself - LOL!

Fuzzy, I agree about the cockatoo. How terrible. Maybe you could talk the owner into giving to you? And loved your poo pics. I think so many health issues can be diagnosed from poo. One of the baby goats has a soft poo and not berries so I'm doing probios this afternoon.

Nova, what Elizabeth Peters book are you on? I love her too. I can sympathize with eating too much...

Rusty, I'm SOOOO glad your grandson is better. That's really scary.
