Fuzzy's Farm

Good morning everyone! Long weekend.. My hubbie and I building coops! Got one finished for our pair of white bantams saturday, and low and behold yesterday our first egg from her! Was awesome! My other little bantam has been laying for past few days also. Now to get the big coop tiniest for the other chickens and hopefully they will all start laying. We have really been enjoying this together. I'm so impressed with the small coop for bantams! We have never built anything and we ended up with this cute little hen house with nice nests roosting pole and ramp coming out with latches to lock them in securely at night. A hinged door on outside to reach in and get eggs, that has a latch on it to keep it secure! Doing same for big coop except on larger scale. We ran out of daylight last night, plus a couple of carpentry problem, or would of gotten it done too! Now when it's done we are going to paint them all barn red. And as soon as I can post pictures of everything for you all to see, I will! Hope everyone has a great week, and weather gets warmer !!!

Finally got caught up .. i feel like you girls always talk more when i am gone ... makes me feel like an outcast these days lol ...and no more til the move ... and im missing my boys while im in GA ...
Hi Silver! I miss you on here! When do you make the final move to GA? Or was this that? I'm turned around but that's nothing new.

That''s really pretty, Fluffy. I once found an entire set for 12 of Haviland (sp?) china at an estate sell for $20. I snatched it up but then never used it so gave it to one of my DL's. She keeps it in her china cabinet and it does look pretty. I love garage sales and ebay is pretty good too. I'm into fiestaware so every now and then will find something good in that.
I used to have a lovely old set of tea ware. It came from various garage sales and took me nigh on two years, but I ended up having a matching set for four. Sandwiche plate, teacup and saucer set. My Ex in laws didn't have the same value for things that I did... Ended up with a broken set when one of the nephews threw a toy, hit my tray, and busted a few. I was so upset, but the response from the ex-sil made me even more mad, that I am sure I looked quite the lunatic throwing the rest of the china at her... The toy was thrown because the kid was mad that he wasn't getting his way... She didn't discipline him over it, just tried to baby him out of his tantrum. I smacked his bottom with my hand and told him to stand in the corner, she turned on me and told me I had no right, I went balistic at that point and told her what I thought of her tactics for this brat, and that the peices were irreplaceable, she said they were just "things", and he was just a kid. SO... china flew after that. I had to clean the mess, and things were never the same with the whole family and me after that. They all came down on me like a ton of bricks. I told them all they could go and do something that starts with an "F" and ends with an "off". Never apologized, never recieved one either.
I'm often amazed at how people let their kids get away with anything. They think swatting the 'little darlings' will damage their psyche. I spanked all my kids and they turned out great. This stuff about "letting them express themselves" and "being their best friend" is for the birds (although the birds are much better parents). You are supposed to be a parent, not a friend! Kids need to be taught respect for other people and other people's property. If they aren't, they grow up to be adults who have no respect for anyone or anything. They get the "it's all about me" mentality. Geeesh, didn't mean to write a novel but situations like yours gets me so upset about how people are just downright stupid. And then they let it ruin a family. grrrrr. Let me at 'em, Nova.

That's so great, Savannah. I can hardly wait to see pictures.

We were also busy this weekend. Saturday we trimmed goat hooves, gave shots, wormed and gave copper to the big girls. That was fun...NOT! They weren't happy! Today we have to do the same with the babies. I'm so excited...NOT!

Tee, that's a hilarious ad. It's the only one I really liked. Where were the Clysdales? The Budweiser Frogs? No really great ones and some that were really violent that I wouldn't want small children to see. Plus the 49'ers didn't win so we were bummed.

Have you guys seen the website "Hen Cam"? She has live cams of her goats and chickens. Plus she has a FAQ's page that has some good information. What interests me is the bedding she's using. I can't figure out what it is. It's so clean looking. I've got to clean the coop today and was thinking I'd try her bedding if I could figure it out? Any thoughts? http://hencam.com/

I was just rereading the info on her site and she says she uses pine shavings. However, they must be the small ones as mine don't look like that. Maybe I'm going to have to try the "animal bedding" size of pine shavings instead of the large flakes I'm using now?

I haven't figured out how to post my pictures yet, so I can email them to anyone that would like to see them! My email is [email protected]. Is this normal? Went to feed chickens this morning, and my big rooster pecked the back of my hand, I was pouring the feed into feeder with the other hand. Didn't hurt just startled me!

there are the flake and the fine. I like the fine, but the flake has more... go figure.

It's shredded paper. I use it too. Apparently, much to the chagrin of several members. It's great in the coop. Mixes well with soil and crap in run too.

Well, I was going to give it a look and try to guess about the hencam.com bedding, but the animals are in bed for the night and won't be able to be viewed for 12 hours and x minutes. LOL
