I had a friend over for a couple hours today that I have not seen in 2 months... I missed her!

Had some shawarma for dinner and fattoush Mmmmmm (Not the chicken that got hawked... she is safe)

I wanted to go out shopping... I had a very specific list!... BF had other plans and since he was driving, I got carted around for the ride LOL
I got NONE of what I wanted and we stayed out way too late!

All I wanted was s'more supplies and to have a fire (which BF had stacked up so nicely)
We ended up buying baby shower supplies, a new bed set for DS, an awful turkey dinner hat for my MILs B-Day, and a tiny tape meaure for DS.
My MIL loves to decorate herself for the holidays. She says she does it for the kids but she did that way before she was a crossing guard

It embarrasses BF to no end... I don't mind it... in fact, I probably encourage her too much.

Now I am sitting here with some vino and with DS watching Iron Man

I hope so! Cookie needs a friend. Not that princess isn't a good girl, but this cross seems to stick together and have their own language! I had a horrible time trying to find cocoa a friend! Figures i finally did it but only a month before the end. She rejected all the others i tried, beat them up in fact!

I wouldn't say it's a thick crust, but the top is firm and will get a cracked look if you push on it. Under the top is normal.

Hmmm. Intrigued. The ones i tried had almost a hard cookie crust on top? Not what i want at all. I will look at my apple pie recipe for you tomorrow, and try to figure out how to make a regular size one, lol. The texture is spot-on, you hit it with the fork and it gets a little rim of apple ooze out but it don't all fall out, and it don't just stand there like glue!
I used to have a guy friend who was my best critic. He said a fruit pie should run, but only just a smidge! I miss my critic. Boy, he'd tell you in a millisecond if it wasn't right! No BS there. He knew that i really wanted an HONEST opinion!
I do plain spicing, but you can always add more to your taste. I use brown sugar too, which gives it a mellow flavor. I really like to emphasize a fruit's flavor, not overrun it. Hard to describe, but you know how the canned filling almost don't even taste fruity anymore on account of all the sugar and whatnot? Bleh. I also use the yellow apples, forget what they're called but they are just tart enough to hold their flavor against the sugar, but not so much that it makes you cringe!

Yes begged, and I beg no one for nothing. Olive has left BYC. So sad. They have lost a GREAT educator.

Is she going to chickenstock at least?

As for my SLW pullet, she is in the chicken cemetary now. ............ If what I saw was correct, she not only was at point of lay, but it looks like her repro system was not right.

Aaaawwwww. Nova, i know you like those birds, but have you actually had any that didn't have repro issues?
So sad.

Piggy number 2 is the blond bearded girl. Both the girls seem to love the "trophys" It's totally about the trophy, you know! If no one's looking they don't eat it really, but if anyone looks they gobble. lol Silly girls.

I really hope i don't have 4 boys and 2 girls! One of the "boys" is blonde/ buff like his sis, though. Have to research these genetics a bit better, i really think i'm on to something but i don't know what the next step is............. I know i like the lemon du'ccle color though, reminds me of my roo with his silver and gold leakage

I have only had repro issues with the wyandottes... I think when the last 3 are gone, there will be no more... We will see. The are just so stunning... But its only been 2 silvers. Belle just still had an egg in production when she died. I really think that she may have been involved in the coon indecent...

I think the Serama is gonna be named Chicken Little. Because yesterday, a leaf fell from the tree onto her back and she jumped straight up in the air then ran in circles "the sky is falling the sky is falling"....

It is chilly out there this morning!!!

The girls are out, Bird is being the top-hen, pecking at Chicken Little- however, they are both staying together and away from the resident hens. Neighborhood divide within the hen yard. Both groups ignoring the other- aware of each other, but pretending they arent.

SOON as they are all ONE group they may come out and check out the bushes and grass and the rest of my backyard. Until then, they have to scrunge through the falling leaves and mulch behind their fence.
