Fuzzy's Farm

Coop news: i let everyone out of their pens for a couple hours this morning. Baby is getting bigger and this flock configuration is doing just fine with mommy and baby free in there. I have seen baby perching with other hens, so that is great!
The new hen keeps pressing herself up to the fence over henry. Her roo kisses her but by his tail he is still a cockerel. She wants the man. Cookie forsake the larger coop to go be with her man roo...probably got beat up by the rescue ladys but her and henry never left each others side today. The ee girls know he is still unwell because i found worms today and they would not take them and let him eat them when he called them. I can't figure it. He don't smell now and all i see is boogery mouth? No one else has it. Makes it hard for him to eat the crumble. I will bring him corn tomorrow.

Gee, I didn't realize you guys were that close to Chicago. I'd love to fly over but DH would be lonesome - lol. I'm really looking forward to it, just getting away is something I really really need right now. Stress from bad pap, stress from the baby in icu, stress from my brother demanding 'an accounting' on my dad's will, stress from emptying out an office that I've had for eleven years. and Stress from having thanksgiving tomorrow. WHAT WAS I THINKING? Anyway, I'm a basket case. Boy am I whining. Chicago here we come.

The baby is doing great! Whoo hoo! He's still in icu and will be until Thanksgiving day, but they've moved him to a room where my son and daughter actually live in. They can take care of him and stay the night. It's so much better and helps getting everyone reacquainted. He's gained over two pounds and is looking around at everything. I bought him a baby einstein mobile to help with the bland interiors of icu beds. I'm so thankful my DIL caught it early or it could have been a different story.

Spent the day yesterday cleaning to coop. It looks so good. Thank goodness for my poop boards. How easy is that to clean them. I use sand and pdz mixed. dries everything out and then I just scoop it up and toss it in the compost. Then today used the expandable foam to seal all the gaps under the roofline in the barn so the goats would be warmer. I put a sweater on Georgie to help keep her legs warm. When we get back I think I'll make little leggings I can slip on her front legs and then stich to the sweater to keep her legs from getting so stiff. Maybe if they are warm she won't be in arthritic pain.

Drat gigi! If my place was together i'd ply him with food .... then we could all hang out. Sorry for all the stress! If you could only hug on one of my chickens ... lol. Mine are so demanding and jealous and there is only one of me; but all my stress melts and i forget the world when they lean into me and give neck hugs.

Gigi, so sorry for all your stress, Sounds like Chicago is just what you need. And most of us are only a 3 to 4 hour drive from there with Indiana being a mid point. could meet in middle for lunch. Have a safe flight! So glad to hear baby is doing better and congrats!
Fuzzy, get a sled, the plastic kind that will fit 2 little rear end. That is what I use to haul my water and feed supplies with over the snow in winter Made it lot easier than trying to carry it all thru the snow.

Update: as some of you know my husband had a heart attack on the 9th in Mo. He checked himself out of the hospital AMA. We have found that because he did so Ins. may not cover anything down there. He wanted to be closer to home. We met with a surgeon once home. After many test he was scheduled for a triple bypass yesterday. We we assured he had the top heart surgeon at this fairly large hospital. Surgery was to have been at least 6 hours. Was completed in 3 1/2 as he only had to have a double bypass instead of triple. Things went really well with the surgery. The Doctor was please with the out come. And being the fighter he (hubby) is he was able to get off the ventilator about 4 hours ahead of the average patient. One more day in ICU then regular room and he should be able to com home Saturday. Yippee than I might be able to get some rest..
Thank you all for caring!
