Fuzzy's Farm

my worst mistake was over heating a bunch of new chickens .... and this was the second hardest ... i have actually thought about giving up butt hen i love my babies and could never give them to new homes very easily

It is called live and learn. If you give up because of a few bumps, hard thou they are, what does that teach your kids? Throw the towel in cuz it is to hard and to much work... Don't do that. Persevere.

Cots- no more bobs, nope..not doing bobs again. They mature at six weeks. Cots for you, you want eggs? Did you get your incubator yet? Make sure you tell Santa that you need one.

No culling for me. *gag* Im too big of a wimp.
I would love a pair or trio of cots... hatch some out for me!!! I don't have a bator... not sure I will get one (Too much temptation)(and you need a reason to use yours so often

Blame it on me when the Hubby asks)
I love the little specled eggs!! Takes 4 to make one chicken egg... but I would get one a day from my girl that I had.
Ok... This story is so very not chicken related, but it is child related. As in, it is MY child... The bathroom, and fuzzy butts...
LOL my son and I recently had a similar conversation...While I was using the restroom. I kicked him out as well! (after trying to tell him why)
He has a body book and really enjoys looking at all the real pictures that are in it (intestines, brains, germs, neurons...) So he knows about the uterus, and he calls testes "nutterbutters"

OK, this isn't to do with the other chicks but that made me think about my "method";

I am backwards from most people though as far as the quarantine on chicks............
I dug up some nice black dirt from back in the woods and put it in a frisbee... I think I gave them sand first and threw some mealworms in there so they would pick it out.(they don't need much encouragment)
The only illness I have had is wry neck...
Instead we bleached the wall several times a year. Live and learn.
Bleach can make mold grow...

That's why i haven't done meat birds or turkeys yet. :(

They are big sweet dummies. :( I could never eat something that trusted me!

As bad as i feel about losing my first flock of RIR's, there was only one or two that i actually was on friendly terms with. I got so mad sometimes! Had i not ventured into EE's i may not have been so sentimental about eating my birds............ Those reds certainly didn't inspire any love! I have heard sweet stories, but mine weren't anything nice and i was almost relieved after i got over it.

How does bleach make it grow?............. She made her batches strong, probably stronger than it should've been.................Did she make super mold???? And here i thought bleach killed it! So what does?

I hate to talk about him like this but he was an extra roo that was extra rude to the other chickens that I love.
I was worried that the neighbors were going to complain that the chickens never stopped crowing (because it seemed like once one started it would go on for 30 min
hmm.png
both roos would get going and then the roo from down the street!!!)
It had to be done. I couldn't find him a new home so he will be home in our bellies.

Also, it was a learning experience for BF and I... he did all the hard parts.
I was surprised that plucking was easier than I thought. Easier physically... not mentally.
I feel terrible...and not at the same time.

"Why Chlorine Bleach is NOT Recommended for Mold Remediation.
Clorine bleach is corrosive and that fact is stated on the product label (not to mention the exposure hazards of dioxins). Yet the properties of chlorine bleach prevent it from “soaking into” wood-based building materials to get at the deeply embedded mycelia (roots) of mold. The object to killing mold is to kill its “roots”. Reputable mold remediation contractors use appropriate products that effectively disinfect properly scrubbed and cleaned salvageable mold infected wood products. Beware of any mold inspector, mold remediation contractor or other individual that recommends or uses chlorine bleach for mold clean up on wood-based building materials."

"Conclusion.
Laundry bleach is not an effective mold killing agent for wood-based building materials and NOT EFFECTIVE in the mold remediation process. OSHA is the first federal agency to announce a departure from the use of chlorine bleach in mold remediation. In time, other federal, state and other public safety agencies are expected to follow OSHA’s lead. The public should be aware, however, that a chlorine bleach solution IS an effective sanitizing product that kills mold on hard non porous surfaces and neutralizes indoor mold allergens that trigger allergies."

)I quoted because it was easier...)
