chamomile tea bags, warm. Was it you that said it before? Dr told DH that it would of worked for the nephew's eye stye, too.

A year ago my youngest had pink eye develop over a weekend so I couldn't get her to the dr for the eye drops. I googled around and found out about using chamomile tea bags on the infected eye and it worked. Noticeable improvement the next day and pretty much gone the day after that. Just get a plain chamomile bag and get it soaked in warm water, squeeze off the excess water and apply to eye for @15-20 minutes every couple of hours.

You know what kinda stumped me yesterday... I was reading the thread and HE said he let the birds out to free range for a while... I was like, WHY!!!!!? Why would he do such a thing! He'll have them tested again, they'll show up positive again and he'll just kill them all again. I know there are vaccines, but what I was reading the vaccine isn't a guarantee! Stupid stupid stupid!

edited to add... they can still get it, only it won't be as damaging as it is in unvaccinated birds and less likely to spread to neighboring colonies as long as you've vaccinated against WILD STRAINS... Oh... yeah...

Exactly. I even posted link after link showing this, as well as links showing that denaguard is used in the UK to cure them! But he only gave it enough to keep them from shedding the germ into the egg, then killed them. Didn't even give them the chance to see if it worked!

When i first joined and he killed his flock, did i read right that he sadly brought his favorite hens to the bathtub? Did he DROWN them???? What a waste of life.

I let my two softies out to play with the other babies, and the birds, and everyone was playing nice. Still don't get it.

I still think it was the hatchmates, of the 3 out 2 had been picked at ( Their pin feathers bleed easily, seems to be the target) and the other gold and black little hen had not been picked at, and i saw her actively pick at the others. Not aggressive like the little roo was, but still................ So another day of observation, then if it turns out to be that little hen SHE will be the one in the cage at night! For now i put the 2 softies in, my hope is #1 bird for me right now, not that i don't love the others, but............

I was talking to DH's uncle tonight, and dusk fell; I heard no bickering and everyone put theirselves away, including the babies! So other than being more nervous and waiting until i get there to eat and drink good all is good. I also plan on feeling crops right away tomorrow, to see if they eat at all before i arrive........

Great! Just great!

Tonight, when we locked up the chicken coop, it wasn't quite dark, and I was watching a few hens finish up their scratching. Suddenly, my "sweet" rooster comes running up and starts appemting to spur me! He has just suddenly gotten majorly aggressive, and now mom and dad said I have to get rid of him. What they mean is dad has to KILL him!

Now I am greatly considering asking dad if he would butcher him instead. Unless I can make him less aggressive...
