Fuzzy's Farm

Well, you know i'm partial to my easter eggers, so........ Some of them are very scardey-cat, and others won't leave you alone. I kept the friendliest ones and now i have a handful of lap hounds! Only downside is when you lose one it is very upsetting.

I haven't tried russian orloffs yet, but they are something i wish for as they are supposed to be super friendly too; those lay eggs even in the winter but slow down on the egg laying after a couple years.

My orpington was the "best of both worlds" as she laid tons of eggs, even in the winter and was friendly too. (until she took a dislike to me, but it was just me and she still liked everyone else) Downside is the pics you see in books are ENGLISH orpingtons, not the same as hatchery ones! Those aren't as fluffy and have big combs. These will hatch for you.

Silkies are also on my "want" list, as they are so cute, and they also hatch eggs :)

As you can tell mine are purely for fun, i don't keep any "serious" egg/ meat layers. I just like messing with the birds, mine are like a bunch of feathered cats :)

And you need a safe coop and chicken feed and bedding and a run (or free range area) and a waterer that doesn't freeze. Lots of other things go along with taking care of a chick that quickly becomes a full grown chicken.

on your loss fluffy
LOVE LOVE LOVE the tree nova .. i have thought of doing that before but i lack in actual that kind of artistic talent

Easter eggers lay the blue and the green eggs, sometimes you "win the lotto" and get a pink egg layer! I used to have one, so i have seen the pink myself. The brown was my orpington, and the white was store-bought.

There are also mini breeds if you want an inside pet for fun

Got a new laptop today as my other collapsed. It has Windows 8 on it and I'm going crazy 'cause every little thing that you touch causes the screens to change/flip/disappear

Technology is great except when it isn't.

I like his sparkly legs. :p

Fuzzy, sorry about little bean. :( At least he was cozy, I think sometimes that's just the best thing you can do.....

Lilelfengurl, what are you looking for? pet? Layer? Show bird? Meat bird? And you probably want more than A chick, chickens are very social, and chicks just don't seem to survive as well if they're alone........especially if something bad would happen.
