Just watched this week's episode of Downton Abbey. Oh my gosh, you've got to watch the entire series and get caught up so we can talk about what's happening.

Those are the cutest "eggs" I've seen in awhile. You've got to find a way to hide them.

Good morning all! Gigi you are in Ok? I'm in mississippi.. My sister lives in Hulbert Ok, few miles from Talaquah. She raises all kinds of chickens.. Maybe you are close? I feel like the outcast on this thread ,but I keep trying!! Lol. And Hannah brothers can be beasts as children and as adults! But hopefully it will work out for you. And Bob there are lots of us do it yourself girls around! I have a great husband that I wouldn't trade for anything! But I'm very independent also! Our common new thing together is our new chickens! We are both in love with our new pets! We have been building coops together, and building fences! Fencing in whole yard which is almost 3 acres just for the dog and so we can try to let chickens free range some. I am learning about them with my husband, we know nothing about raising chickens, but we sure are enjoying learning together! We have 3 roosters that all start crowing at 4am. So much fun to hear them!, anyway hope everyone has a great day!

Hannah hang in there, brothers can be a pain in the rear, but they do grow up and sometimes get better! I live n Mississippi, and wish I could find someone in my area to talk to about my chickens! And Bob there's more independent girls out here! I'm very independent, I have a awesome husband that loves that I'm not afraid to try just about anything ! I have always liked making and fixing things! Inside and outside! We have been building coops and putting up fence for past week together. We just got chickens and are learning together, and enjoying every minute of it. Lots of hard work but so much bonding!!! Lol... Anyway everyone have a great day. Hi Nova!

Robin..thats a good project for you. Take Huey and breed him with a serama. Then take THOSE babies and breed them with a Robin... *(ah ha hah ha...I didnt mean that to sound so weird, but now that I have done it...bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....)

that should make some blue egg laying small statues or small bowling balls...oh! Lawn statuary...not chickens.


Can you all believe that Huey is still alive? Robin is so awesome. He has outlived his life expectancy by far!!!!!

A bunch of black serema hens is what you need. That way all of them look like black birds. No one would believe a chicken is that small...

Hi Savannah. It's so good to find you on here. I've been wondering how you are doing with your new chicks. Please don't don't don't feel bad about talking. I know it sounds like we are a group that's been together forever but I only found this site about 6 mo or so ago. The more you talk, the more people get to know each other. And this is the best group for answering any questions so anytime just get on here and let us know what's going on. What is going on? How are the babies? How's your new coop?

That's great you have a sister in Oklahoma. Tahlequah over in east Oklahoma. We live east of Norman which is right in the middle of the state. It's probably a 3 hr drive from where we live to there. We really like Mississippi. Summer before last we drove to Atlanta to see new grandbaby and then went to Oxford Miss as DH knows people who teach at the university there. We were going to travel around the Delta and see all the old blues places as he is a huge fan but then he ended up getting the flu so we headed home. We will probably do that again either next summer or the following since we had to cut the trip short. I had never seen kudzu (sp?) before and was amazed at how the countryside where it was growing looked like a moonscape or something out of a nuclear holocaust. I kept telling DH that what Mississippi needs are a lot of goats - LOL!

So speaking of goats it was REALLY cold here this morning so being the good person I am (cough, cough) I decide to whip up some nice warm oatmeal, with brown sugar added no less, to give everyone. So I bundle up, take the big pot of steaming oatmeal out to the barn, mix a bit of goat feed with it and dole it into the goats' feeders thinking they are going to be so excited. Well, you would think I was trying to poison them. They turned up their goatee noses and ran around bleating like the world was ending. I think they just need a bit to get used to it so I go in the house. ALL the goats gather at the fence where they can see into the house and start this chorus of baaaaaing like they hadn't been fed in six years. So finally I gave up, went out and scraped now-cold oatmeal out of all the feeders, threw it into the chickens (who actually looked at it like What's That?) and gave the squirrely babies their regular goat chow which they devoured like they'd been starved by the mean old mistress. Then I checked the girls and they were listlessly picking at the oatmeal like "Where's the mac and cheese? That's what we really expect?"

Now, I'm a pretty fair cook (if you don't include angel food cake), so I don't think it was my oatmeal. So baaa humbug on them, no more home cooking!

ah hah ha...Im not doing babies this year either. They are illegal. These are recycled eggs.

Recycled eggs will not sway me, either. LOL

My throat's feeling a bit off this morning. Darn it. DD better not be shifting her yuck off to me.
