Fuzzy's Farm

OK! yes, thoooooose people. How could i forget? Glad to see at least SOME form of justice being done, though things were easier before all the politically correct days!

Here's and interesting link for dealing with the roos https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/390911/important-how-to-deal-with-an-aggressive-rooster

May not work all the time, but worth trying! But ONLY if he allwows you to correct him without fuss, otherwise he hasn't accepted your dominance. I am very guilty of humanizing my animals, some of them are more human to me than my "own kind"; but birds are definitely an animal and learning their body language and their behaviors goes a long way towards understanding each other!

Here is a link that goes into chicken behavior; I kept petstore birds all my life and was shocked at how different their interactions are! Once i started understanding what the different noises meant and the distinct dances and whatnot, it was a revelation! Now i have the world's tamest chickens, but it would not have happened without that bit of background knowledge :)

Hi there Bob

Thanks for input about the bully rooster! But he hasn't done it again, and think it was just a fluke! My bantams are doing a great job on the laying, leghorn layed for first time today. Will have coop finished tonight so hopefully the other hens will start laying also. Love the dorito goat!!! Lol so funny...

Ok... got a few pics of the boys I need to either 1) rehome; 2) eat...

David Bowie... Isn't it weird, he's 1/2 silkie and 1/2 New hampshire. He's got his moves going, he's pretty gently on the hens when he mounts... Still needs more practice... LOL

This is Billy Idol, 3/4 fav, 1/4 lt. brahma. He's got salmon going in the wings and shoulders... Not mounting or interested in the girls. Thought for the longest that he was going to be a girl... then the saddle feathers and hackles showed up...

AND Sting... Sting is a TOTAL MUTT. He's Rod Stewarts get. Not sure which hen was the mama, but he's got more white... So I think one of the faverolle/brahma hens... So, he's at least 1/2 faverolle, and a 1/4 silkie and a 1/4 brahma... and TOTAL MUTT! LOL

Rod Stewart... See... LOL, you know who's Sting's daddy. LOL

and
I agree. It'd be the last thing one of my roosters ever do. I have 5 boys and we all have a healthy respect for each other, but they know who's boss and I've never had an issue with aggressiveness from any of them.
5 boys! Wow! I had 3 and I thought that was wild - LOL!
Oh I'm sooo happy! My white leghorn layed her first egg! Yea! Finishing big chicken coop tonight, then hopefully everyone else will start laying.
YAY!

He is! If'n you're wanting him, you can have him.

Gigi, if I wasn't terrified of shipping a live bird across the country... I really do like David Bowie... He is just so pretty and getting regal looking... I am actually thinking of keeping Sting though... cuz he looks so much like Rod Stewart... LOL, and that feather do up top. LOL. Thats the only part on him that you can tell comes from the silkie side. LOL.
