Fuzzy's Farm

You know, I was actually thinking about those masks because the darn scarf would not stay in place. I had to keep readjusting it which was annoying.

Hi Gigi, now is the time to go dumpster diving. probably not much going on there this time of night on a weekend. You could also dress as a bag lady and go incognito and now one would know.

Unfortunately, our program is geared towards working adults so weekends and nights are the busiest times in the building. The BEST time would be 8:00am - lol!

Morning everyone! What's going on? More snow?

A skunk got under the coop last night and whooooo the smell is so strong inside. My poor birdies. I've got it completely open but geesh they are going to have to hold their noses when they go in to lay an egg.

Afternoon Gigi. Nope, nothing going on. No new snow today, but we are expecting some rain....and then snow tomorrow.

Let our group out of the coop today. DH has been keeping them in, but I said open the door and give them the chance to wander a bit. It's not that cold and there are paths in the snow they can roam in.

I did not let the birds out. I wanted too, but I am leary of the wild turkeys wandering in. They have been wandering/searching around the coop, and even up the side of the house on the cleared paths. I am afraid iwth the door open, they'd go in. They've no fear of the chickens space, and I can just imagine the frackus they'd cause digging around in all that thawed earth, looking for left over corn, worms, bread, rice, bugs, straw/hay/whatnot. LOL. Maybe I am being paranoid, but... Then again, maybe I am not. I haven't ever had them in my driveway before this year... And this year, they were.

Anyway, rain sucks. Its a cold rain. All I can say is I hope everyone has gotten cleared out before the temps drop again, cuz if not, this rain is going to make everything that hasn't melted into block ice. I hope the condo association clears more of the roads through them. It was a pain in the back, literally, being jarred all through there to deliver papers. AND THE ICE! I got to where I said "ahem" it, I aint getting out no more. Being old isn't a good enough reason to be irresponsible and expect me to walk on ice because you can through a bit of salt after the plows come through to finish clearing... Or maybe it is.

CF4L... I am not much into role playing. When I was a kid, I used to do dungeon and dragons... but that was SOOOOOO long ago... can you say 25 years? I think at my age, the only playing I like to do now that is role playing is pretending I am the boss and I get respect...

Where the hockey sticks is everyone?

ROBIN! I NEED A BIG BIG BIG FAVOR! Ok, it's not a favor, just a question that I hope you can answer, or any one else for that matter... I was thinking of grabbing a bag of clover and greens seeds from TSC, its for drawing deer actually, but supposed to spread and cover. I have an area around the coop and where the ducks were that has been completely decimated of all vegetation thanks to the ducks joy of rooting. Now, I could replant grass or something, but I was thinking maybe this clover mix would be nice instead. I'd have it fenced off to keep the birds out of it until it was started and took root well and was at least up over my ankles before I let the chickens back in that area. Would that be a good idea? Would it hold up to the chickens? It'll also be then in the area I will be ranging meat birds come later spring...

Nova try rye grass. We planted it this past fall because we had just bought the propery here, and had it dozed and lot of dirt work. So it was terrible. But someone told us to get rye grass and plant it! And we have right now beautiful dark green lush grass! It grows fast and is beautiful! The animals all love it, we have deer, rabbits that love it! The chickens love it also, it inexpensive and grows in any soli! Trust me if it can grow in Mississippi red mud it will grow anywhere! Give it a try! Two more of my hens started laying Gigi and Nova! I'm so proud of them! We went to home depot today bought 2 more citrus trees for my orchard, a ruby red grapefruit, and a naval orange. Going to try to get them in the ground this week! Been so busy with chickens and fence that I been not getting othe things done. Got my green house together today, so starting my tomatoes and other garden seeds this week ! Anyway I'm long winded tonight! Lol have a good night everyone, stay warm!

Be super careful out there tonight Nova. It is pure ice on the back roads. I have to go down 3 roads to get to the main one and it is an ice rink. Down the first one I turn on, someone went off the road. I was only going 15 miles an hour and I could feel the car slipping the whole way. It was worse on the way home because there is a nice dip. Man, was that not fun.

And do you want to know the worse thing about my roads. Our road commission is halfway down the last road and wouldn't you know in front of them and all the way to the main road is perfectly clear. Seriously. Yeah, thanks guys for the salting and sanding of the roads....not.

Anyway, the chickens really didn't think it was a good day for an outing. I think we saw maybe 5 or 6 of them. The rest were all 'heck no'.
