Fuzzy's Farm

No school here today, either. Roads were still way too icy. They got better today, but there are still slick roads out there and my road is still thick slushy icy crap that will probably freeze and make for a bumpy ride. We got snow drifting across the roads as well.

Gigi, hope your goat gets better.

Y'all got snow and ice and we have rain! Yuk... Please spring hurry and get here! Hope the goat is doing better? And hope everyone gets dug outta the snow! We've had rain for 2 days and supposed to rain thru wednsday! But rain is better than snow and ice.. I would probably freeze to death up north. Hope everyone has good night..

Skatter escaped her broody area with her babies today. I had to get her back in for the night. Pat the Rat keeps wanting to attack the intruder. All of the other birds are fine with her there, but he is NOT. I guess tomorrow I will have to figure something else out for her. I do not want to take her back to outdoor coops yet...

Big Red is still holding. She's doing good. Only now I can not remember what day they were set under her, so I don't remember if it is 4 days or 5... I need to mark the calendar. I think I need to make a bigger brooder in the garage... She's much bigger than Skatter...I will figure on 2 weeks to build it...

My head ache s still kicking. I finally broke down and drank a coffee. Hope it helps because the other stuff isn't. I am out of excedrin too. I am too lazy to drive the half mile to meijer to get some.

The city fathers would really love that !

I wrote to respond to the seed question but lost the post trying to add a pict. of the stuff. Anyway=====I'm summarizing it

My yard is a garden. Iplanted a mix of alfalfa/clover seed in spring and fall of 2010 & 2011. Plots are about 2 x 5 m and 3 x 4 m. Grew well and chickens eat it up when given acess. I direct them to different areas of the back yard with 3 or 4 ft high chicken wire. That does the job. I broadcast winter rye in the berries and let them eat there in spring. Do the same w/ asparagus Giving access before and after harvest. They get to the strawberries after harvest and before I mow them. I am assured that the birds appreciate the forage.

Thanks Bob... I am mostly looking to plant something there that I don't have to attend to EVER AGAIN. The ducks really did a number. I want some thing green, something the birds can eat, and something that will come back every year. Grass would be preferable, so I think maybe the rye and clover would work...

They are in the township, and the car is in the backyard. LOL. I think it's great actually. I would paint it and make it pretty... LOL

Well, Maggie the goat is okay. Vet pretty much thinks she's having a false pregnancy like she did last summer. She gave her a shot of lutase (sp?) to "clean her out" and an injection of an anti-inflammatory. Tonight she was eating again so we are very happy. Vet said that if she does this again then we will have to look at "spaying" her. A hysterectomy for a goat = lol! One of the little ones, appropriately named "Little Guy", was so upset that we were taking Maggie out of the pasture that he leaned his head through the fence and just cried and cried. I felt more sorry for him than I did for Maggie. He was so happy when she came home. Maggie's Queen Goat and they would all be devastated if something happened to her. As would we....

Skunk got under the coop again. The odor is unbelievable.

Got home late tonight after a bunch of tension-filled meetings at school about what courses we are going to offer and what courses we are going to delete. Of course, everybody has their "territories" and so it was of those meetings where everyone wanted to yell at each other (but thankfully they didn't). I'm so ready to retire but that won't happen for another 3 years... Nice thing was DH felt sorry for me so took me out to eat. Yay NO Cooking!!!!
