Fuzzy's Farm

Doing OK Fuzzy. Just busy is all. I have 39 lambs right now with 6 more ewes to lamb. 6 on the bottle (ugh, did I ever mention I hate bottle lambs ? LOL) Already got rid of 3 bottle lambs but now have 6 more and I'm sure more to come. February is always my busiest month of the year.

Kim is doing ok also. We are texting right now :)

Will be back on soon.
Wow, Robin, six bottle babies. That's enough to keep you busy for a long while!

EW! I know how that feels... AND stitches in the hand totally SUCK!

Ok... there are from Vietnam... And I understand they go for $2000, not here in the US yet... BUT HOLY FREAK CHICKEN BATMAN!

Ewwwww! Those look so gross. I'd be trying to smear Vaseline on those legs - lol.

Nova, sorry about the job not working out.

Fuzzy, how's your search going?

Tee, WHAT happened to your daughter? It sounds really scary....

So, for the past week I have been busy tipping the eggs in my experimental incubator. I candled last night just for fun (because BF was replacing a light switch so power was off for my heat lamp anyway) I wrapped the egg carton in a blanket and cut a hole in the box... I think I need a better light or nothing is happening. I saw a dark spot toward the top (could have been the yolk) and no veins. Yesterday night would be day 5.
I think I am just cooking eggs...

Today is my last day watching the kids...I fear it will not actually be the last. I have a feeling I will get a call to watch them if the other lady is sick or after she and kids mom has their new babies... Yes BOTH are pregnant and due around the same time!
I am very excited to have a little more freedom and have some one on one time with my son... I will have to find another job though...

How are your temps reading? You should have lot of veins by now... Discernable growth...

I forgot to bring in my eggs. I do have a few more pics, but being on the touchpad... Kids are playing on ABCya.com. Has a bunch of k-5 education games. I can't complain...

Got half the garage coop cleaned. Thinking of raking out half the run tonight and lighting it up. Its straw, will go up QUICK and put in fresh tomorrow. Also the last egg never hatched. And beyond yucky, Red disposed of it. I am pretty sure it was lifeless though. She's doing a good job with her chicks though.

Ah... What else... Oh, Pat the rat made a flying ninja kick at David House today, ah, proud moment. Didn't think that walking rug could get that high up off the ground. Lol. 6 of the back birds came out today and visited the garage birds. Got a few pics... And I brought Soledad in to have a separate meal. She is so skinny. I worked her just in case, but I really think its the top and beard that's got her not being able to see. Need to get help holding her so I can really trim those feathers around her eyes. She certainly chowed down. Fullest I think her crop has ever been...

First time in weeks that any bird decided to brave the great out of coop/run.

Wild turkeys... I can usually walk with in 20 feet of them, When they are very hungry, the hens usually come with in 10 feet. Does freak me out a bit, worry that one of the toms will get it in his head to beat me up! I kept the fence between us, but you can see how close... I was just at the corner, and my posts are 6 feet apart.

My pretty pink Soledad... I brought her in for special treatment. I figure I will have to do it a few times a day until I get her weight up. The fat cat Licky was totally enthralled by her. LOL

AND remember me saying my last wyandotte hen was ill, and I didn't think she'd make it, but then she pulled through... She was the first out today. She's nice and filled out and recovered.

And Roger Jr. living up to his daddies name, out keeping an eye on one of Skatters babies. LOL.

Go to my siggy link, there's a link to actual candling photos. Was great for my first time, helped me to understand what i was supposed to be seeing

Job............ well, decided to tough it out for now, can find factory but since I have a 3 year gap in employment and am a month shy of 6 months on my current job only factory work i'm gonna find it seems is the crappy low paying ones. I decided that though the company is cheap, it's the particulars of this branch that's driving me mad, so I went and talked to the boss for the branch in cedar springs. No available positions right at the moment, but apparently there's a few real winners in the kitchen, so only a matter of time! That's where i worked when i was a teen, and it's 5 minutes from my mom's house. "D" "H" decided to keep the apt heck or high water, so i'm gonna have to go it alone for renting. Mad. Feels more like special friends than been together 15 years. :( Sigh. So cedar would be a good thing for me, since my family would be close and I wouldn't have to depend on his family if I needed help. I would love to go towards holland, but too scared right now since though i used to be fully independant i'm starting from scratch this time, don't have anything really yet. Also if i got a place here in town i could walk to work, so bonus savings!

i have good rep with the local "slumloard" here in town :) He rents most of the town out, and knows i'm a really good renter, and will let me paint and whatnot, let rules slide. IF the finances work good, perhaps i could get a house where i could have a few chickens, but not unless i get a roomie since i'm dead serious about paying down my debt. I really want to build that credit so I can have a REAL house of my own! At any rate, both him or the trailer park would be ok with me having a house chicken. :)

she looks great, nova. Glad the meds worked. Keeping fingers crossed for you! Our TSC in coopersville had the red lace wyendottes yesterday. They had bantams, but no silkies. Cedar had banties, no silkies there, either. The TSC's seem to be playing it safe, had the jersy giants, red hens, black sex links, rhode island reds, yellow ducks, and one of them had the black and white ducks.

The FFH in allendale had orpingtons, and was supposed to have easter eggers too; the TSC in coopersville had a few EE's but primarily chipmunkers though yesterday there were a few yellow ones, some kind of white pattern probably.

all the banties i have seen so far were the little chipmunks/ bumblebees.

Well, it will be mine i guess. Quiet, but cozy. Gotta get to sleep, i don't work this weekend but i've gotten used to sleeping at 8. Gonna totally go up to TSC tomorrow and see if i can find one of those ads :D
