Oh Gigi, I am so very sorry. I got tears in my eyes now. Yes, it is the hardest thing. I know personally. I am glad they feel it was instant. Wow, this just made my head ache worse, and now all I can think about is my dad. He died in my car from a massive attack. I think I am going to take a pill.

OH, Beulah's eggs are hatching. They weren't supposed to hatch until Monday. Day 19.. She must be one hot mama.

Yeah, I haven't been on. My dad passed away unexpectedly last Monday. I have a hole in my heart. We were very very close. Talked on the phone at least every other day. I'm really just devastated but it's part of life. The only good thing is that he had a massive heart attack out in his garage. Probably died instantly. For that I'm thankful. But it's still very hard. I don't think I've ever had to do something so hard as plan and go to his funeral. So glad we are back home and I can set with the chicks and goats.

The remaining water sank in over night, leaving behind its wormy destruction. They didn't last beyond five minutes of letting the chickens out.

Big Guy... need a name for this one... I have to wait till he tells me with his personality... (The rocker boys got named because they had spikye crests like those 89's rockers.)

Ok... one more thing. Pat the Rat is having to open his beak and kind gasp to breath. I checked his crop again, normal, and listened to his lungs, clear... He does not seem to be distressed really, eating just fine. Beating up the new roo between the fence just fine... Anythought?

The incubator temperature has been holding for a few hours. If it continues to hold for the next hour, I will be setting them tonight.

After candling before I set, We are down 3 Phoenix. One Yoko and one Polish look iffy, but I x'd them so I know when I candle in a week. 2 of the Phoenix were cracked, one actually had a chip that I didn't notice till candling. The other Phoenix looked like it had a broke yolk. It wasn't round like the others, kinda like it was starting to be scrambled. I opened that on carefully, and sure enough, the yolk was. The one Yoko and polish that are iffy, they look like they have something hanging off the yolk sack, but I have seen that on eggs I have cracked for breakfast. I am hoping that's what I was seeing. Then was one with a meat spot, thought that was kinda cool, that I was able to see that when I candled. Never candled eggs that weren't developing before. I used a picture guild to know what I was looking for with detatched air cells and such that could be wrong with shipped eggs. All the air sacks to me looked like they had positioned nicely back on the fat end. A few were still shifty, but I understand they can still hatch since the air sack isn't separated. SO, going to give them a chance too. After all, I am not an expert, trying not to fly by the seat of my pants, so, I'd hate to not try. SO, 43 eggs are going in.

if some are shifty i would let them settle a little more before turning ... just a suggestion not trying ot be bossy... i found that shifty ones do better the longer they settle from readin the other thread and hatching 101 way too much !!!
