well, that, really, sucks. What a waste of time... Did you candle them at all halfway through?

My son's class is going to be hatching eggs in the spring. I offered to give eggs for the project. I told her they wouldn't be pure bred for the most part, but some would be. She said they just give the chicks to the families that want some when they are done. I told her we'd take some back. I'd mark what kind of chicken crosses would be in the eggs. LOL. Jace wants me to just give silkies. Um... have to get a new silkie roo/hen first. Can do the faverolle boys, seremas, polish... SO, we'll see.

I got 10 eggs today! Yup. Been getting 5 a day for the last several days, then today I got 5. Guess them lazy banties decided to pay for their food today. LOL. No, I did not miss a day. I have a broody hen, and if there are any there... she'll sit on them. No chicks until February at the earliest... well no hen will have eggs to sit until then. And Coco Chanel can not have eggs until April. That way if she abandons them at 3 weeks, there won't be to much a problem...

i did candle at day 10 and day 18 but could only see thru one or two the rest were too thick/dark to see thru .... im getting 8 chicks later in november from a class project like that here .... and reset the incy ..hoping for better results this time and should be able to candle the silkie eggs better .... can one even candle little quail eggs ?!?

OH, poor baby. I think he's got something stuck, when he crows it moves it, so he doubles over... Maybe?

That's what I was thinking. He acts better today. He's not drinking much but I got him to drink a little....

Idk bout that roo, but it looks like he's puking or something stuck; have to have a helper and peer down the shute

Yeah, I bet it's a piece of prairie hay. I can usually catch them before they swallow but I guess I didn't get to him in time....

took kiddos out afterall and tiny went with us !!! she rode in an easter basket with a terry cloth towel wrapped around her to keep warm .. she got two tootsie rolls ... and tried to eat my twix the kids gave me lol rotten chicken !!

and i do not know why it did not post before but none of my eggs were good .... checked them today ....

cleaned out and reloaded the bator !!! now i haver 24 silkies in there 5 quail and some chicken that are supposedly ot be amercauna(sp?) crosses ..

Cool! I was going to take Sophie, but I didn't want to take any chances with all the stray dogs around there......

Sounds like everyone had fun for Halloween!
We went to my parents. My mom and her friend dressed up like zombies, and I half expected DS to be afraid...He wasn't afraid at all!! They looked pretty bad (In a good zombie way)
He was Iron Man and we bought the costume just big enought to shove warm clothes in it! I strapped the mask to the top of his head over his hat so he wouldn't trip while wearing the mask. (My brother did that one year... only he insisted that he wear my dads motorcycle helmet... he tripped and fell... in the morning we realized the helmet had a chunk missing from it right at the temple... so the helmet saved his life while also probably being the reason he fell)
Anyway, we made out good on candy!!!

People gave out the good stuff this year... not like when I was a kid and you get all the off brand candy!!!

Well, I don't think you stepped in it. I mean the guy said he was sure the cockerel ate moldy food/spoilage from under the dog house and he knew there was crap under there... So yeah, botulism... You gave very good links.

Stupid cops were out shining their lights in everybody"s windows out here last night around 11:00. I truly hate cops !!!! I have lived out here near 40 years and they were looking for a house with a name I have never ever heard of. Well, addresses are on the mailboxes. And they didn't do it one time. They did it about 3 times. They came to my door and I didn't answer it. My neighbor text me and told me he was getting dressed and would be right over. At that point he didn't know it was the cops. They got in their car and went over there seeing I wouldn't answer the door. I never answer my door to a cop. Last time I did it was so they could tell me my most be-loved son in law was in an accident and was killed. That is a knock you never ever forget so I just don't answer the door to them.
