Fuzzy's Farm

Well, get prepared for "sticker shock". And neon colors mixed with awful prints.! Grrr. Holiday shopping has started already too, people everywhere! So i'm probably gonna switch to online shopping. Get what i want, avoid the crowd and the waffling over decisions that happens when i get "crowded"!

Too late to bat for the other team, lol. Not too late for a different roomie though, if i ever get my own place i will not be getting another man; more and more i think the idea of living seperate sounds good! That way you get to do the fun stuff together and none of the not so fun! lol. And i can have my girlie colors all over too! ha ha ha.
I like to think I am a pretty good shopper... I am constantly picking things up and putting them back when I find a better price... which drives BF crazy, but then he was never a money conscious person and I have always been.
I stopped at Tractor Supply on the way home to pick up some stuff and ended up with a big 'flock block' by purina. I put it in with the girls thinking that this would give them something to do as it looks good to me but they completely ignore it. Have I spent $15 dollars for nothing? Should I get a hammer and break it up a little bit? It's the size of a salt block but with lots of seeds and stuff embedded in it.
I would chip it a little while they were watching
That's pretty cool. Where did you find your hoops?
She made them from PVC! She did a good job!

It took my girls a little bit to decide what there flock block was for then they used it til it was gone

sprinkle some food on that flock block, and they will figure it out quick i bet!

I worked this afternoon on scraping down the floors really good and washing them with bleach water, changing out chick's sand, moving my cinder blocks to make a "fence" between "my" side and theirs (I figure i am gonna be walking i with wet snowy feet) so i have the rubber dish up on a couple of the cinder blocks, several food dishes scattered around for the big babies.
They lie badly on the packaging, that stuff was super stinky and dusty!!! I felt bad, i should have done it sooner in the morning. I let the camper air as much as i could......but already it feels more cozy in there. You would have thought it was hot coals though, the fuss they made about touching it with their feet! ha ha.

I can't wait until i can make a nice covered run too, fix up their digs.

Ah, dinner, done!

yes, I made the hoops from PVC. It comes in 10 foot lengths, so, I made them 15 foot. I used 1/2 in pipe. 1.30 a pipe, bought 20, used 17. Bought connectors, 2 caps, and 40 brackets. Some places used 2 brackets cuz I ended up bending a bracket. 50 feet of plastic 5 mil... Total cost was bought $75 bucks. I am sure I could have done a better job had I had a clue what I was doing. Lol.

Thanks for saying it was a good job. I got my niece a nephew's help me get the tarp up and over.

I think it looks great too! And that's really inexpensive.

The flock block is hard as a rock. A couple of them pecked at it but pretty unenthusiastically. I'll try chipping it a bit and sprinkling food on it. Silly chickens. All the while I was trying to encourage them to try it, the goats were standing on the other side of the fence going "bring it over here and we'll show them how to eat it" - lol.

I read a recipe for a homemade flock block in a magazine last year. I didn't write it down, though, and I can't remember which zine it was. I thought it sounded much better (and cheaper) than the $15 block and would probably taste better and be more nutritious, too, since it wouldn't have been shrink wrapped for the past x amount of months. I tried to google it just now, but I couldn't find the one, although there are numerous other ones.

An Adventure With A Sad Twist And A Semi-Happy Ending!
Many tears there were, the evening of November 7th, 2012. This was the night of Ralph's fate. A hearing was held for him (family debate about whether or not he gets killed), but alas, the jury decided he was not to have yet a 3rd chance. He was sadly killed on this fatal night (fatal for him, anyway), and his body carefully placed on the bon fire, which was then lit. But on to the fire part. The fire was so big, it spread from the fire pit, and burned the grass in a 3 ft circle around the fire pit. Someone from a housing division a ways away called the fire departement because, from where they lived, it looked like a house on fire. They came driving up our dead end street and came running through the field with a hose! Dad walked calmly up to them and explained what was going on. He was in no trouble because we live in the middle of the country side. While he talked to the fire chief, me and my brothers and sister got to see the entire fire truck, which was HUGE and AMAZING. No one was sad afterwards. Dad guessed that the fire had reached at least 10 ft, if not more. It was huge, lighting up some of the property, at least an acre of our property! I wish my camera was not broken.

(P.S, Ralph was a super agressive rooster whom could not be changed, and had to be put down.
