Fuzzy's Farm

ya, that was a big mix-up, my mom told me about it. Everyone thought by voting "no" they were shooting it down but if you read it carefully the "no" was whether you got a say or not. :(

I also try to stay away from politics, i am glad that it is over. Now maybe my phone will quit ringing at all hours?!

I am double posting this because i think i've already recommended this book to you guys, but just in case: (someone's christmas present idea, perhaps?)

"The chicken health handbook" and it's where i have learned the most about health and treatments.
It goes from chick to adulthood, and has many handy charts in there, as well as an encyclopedia style section on each ailment. It also discusses nutrition and flock care in an easy to understand way, to help prevent the illnesses in the first place! :)
If you only owned one book about chickens i would say this is the one to own!
Here is a site that sells it, i am not promoting to buy at this site at all because i don't know anything about it, but it does cater exclusively to bird related books, so you may see others on the list that are interesting as well ?

Well, I am happy to say that I did vote yes on prop 6. I did however see the wording on the ballot, and I think a lot of people just voted no on everything. Everything failed, so... Yes, the wording was a bit tricky. Even the renewable energy that was to give jobs to michigan residents was shot down. That however I am happy on. Since, they only have to give Michigan residents a few jobs, and the rest can go to foreigners. It say parts will be made by michigan companies. Um yes, but how much? If a michigan company makes one part, but the rest is made elsewhere, then guess what, thats ok, because it used parts made in michigan... nice tricky wording there.

Anyway... I am sick of politics too. I think this whole thing was a joke on a lot of Americans with tricky double talking that was done, tricky wording, and with so many Americans in a big hurry because we are struggling to make ends meet... Well anyway...

I have the run filled with leaves. I have leaves bagged up. I am tempted to leave the coop doors open, but I do not have the end on the side where the run meets the coop fenced up yet... I guess I could hook up the light and get it done, Shouldn't take but 20 minutes...

Ah... I am tired..

Supplies the duck with all his new chickie buddies any guesses on the type of chicks ... these came the 4h classroom hatching program here but no one could tell me what type they are ... isnt a big deal but guesses would be appreciated ...... i have two of the babies seperated bc they were sick when they came to me - apparently they had 8 die over night and these 2 were sick ... got them on generic antibiotics and medicated food ... hoping they might make it with the rest of these guys .....

idk, but a bunch of whites! what were the sickly symptoms? What do you have them on? Be sure to keep your hands clean and your clothes can't be the same when you go out to the others..........

I am not usually a germaphobe but at the tip of winter when the temps fluctuate so wildly is the WORST time for a chicken to be exposed. If they are exposed during the summer, at least they get a fighting chance!

Check this out, guys :) I have been lucky enough to get one of the genetics wizzes to answer my color questions!
The last post he gave showing chocolates had a very very cute silkie!

He don't think i made a bird with the gold dillute, but says i could keep breeding my golds until i get a lemon to make the "citron" color. Basically my roo looked like a cirtron because he had the gold, and because he was dominant silver and recessive gold it showed in the right places. My chick is so far looking to be the same as his daddy, but with blue in place of the black! I want to get an updated pic, because he has a lot more buff shading in his feathers than the usual "gold"??? I don't remember plucky showing that much color, just black and white until his adult feathers came in?

they didnt say what the symptoms were there but the two sick ones they sent home are mainly lethargic and wont touch the food much although they did drink the water.. its the generic sulmet i think is what i have .. it is the powder stuff the tsc guy recommended when they were out of sulmet which is all i have on hand at the moment ...

I have been hand washing in between but didnt think to change clothez but then the others healthy ones i have not picked up or anything since putting them in the box ... the others are quarantined in my room in a seperate box so tiny cannot get in with them ...

Try sugar water, a warm oatmeal or cream of wheat mash. Once they have gone a day without eating their stomach shrinks.......have you ever been sick for a long bit, it hurts your stomach after when you try to eat! So gentle foods that are tempting, the bit of sugar can make it more appealing and help give energy.

It is a slim chance but one i'm grabbing on to that these two are just not eating, and going downhill. This is right at the time that their yolk supply is running out.

I am not a fan of our governor, but I just want to clarify something. Are you talking of Proposal 6? If so, that wasn't about whether to say yes we want it or no don't build it. That was about yes the people should have a say in it or no they don't get to have a say in it. It got shot down so the people have no say and the government can do what they want about it.

Sorry, I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers so please don't take it as such. I have actually been trying my best to avoid anything political because it has stressed me out greatly this past week and I am just tired of it. That said, it's a beautiful day out and I plan on enjoying it. Have a great day all.
Yes, I understand that now. My apologies. After all, I am wrong once in a great while LOL. I just found that out today. When they said the proposals were voted down I assumed, and again, my fault. Never assume.
I also voted yes on 6
