IT can be hell and torture on a person to leave their parent in an elder/rehab care facility. The skin check is necessary. They're looking for sores that may be there from your mom laying in the same position for to long.periods. They have to know. It seems very cold hearted and cruel, but that is a necessary evil. I would think sponge baths would be allowed. I can understand the shower schedule, but I would think she'd be able to sponge bath, or you sponge bath her. Speak to the admin. If you do not like what you get there, with admin I mean, then look at what other facility medicare will cover her 3 week stay in. Medicare covered for my dad to recieve daily nurses at the house. Of course, he had me or my mom there 24-7, and he was on a vancomiacyn pic for a month combating an infection. Had his first heart attack during that time too. BUT, he was always attended too, never alone so we were able to do that. I know this is probably not an option for you since you need to work and the kids are in school. If I were closer, I'd gladly take shifts to help her be home.
 
medicare covers NO iv antibiotics out of the hospital. She also has CHamp VA insurance.

skin checks may be necessary- but leaving her lay there naked and exposed to viewers? Putting her on a hard bed pan instead of helping her to the bathroom- because "its not time for me to take you to the bathroom"???????


No, if its the last thing she and I do- I am getting her OUT of there. AND never again will any of my family ever go into a nursing home and I will tell the entire world the truth.

Wanna know WHY I am not a human nurse? Because of my rotation in the nursing home. I could not handle how they made you treat the elderly and the dying. I finished my nursing home rotation and dropped out of nursing school. Went to the animal side.

Nova, my grandma has an excellent NY cheesecake recipe, but I have NO idea what it is........my favorite is peanut butter cheesecake with dark chocolate ganache on top. :drool

Rusty, I'd keep those roos around for sure!!. My Barred Rock cross fight coyotes, those are the good'uns, the ones that'll fight off predators.........but I would burn the hawk, or dump it in the creek, or even bury it, just in case.
 
they most certainly werent supposed to just leave her lying there in front of where anyone could see her ... sounds like you did get a bad facility with people who just do not care ... i worked in several of those and its one reason i never renewwed my cna license when I had it ... the way some of the facilities treated people was immoral and some of it was even illegal ....
Now the facility where I trained at was a god one and id have no problem placing a relative there if i had no other choice b/c of health reasons - but the others .. no way !!!

MAybe you could shop around and find a better one ..

I just had to go through the hours of safety videos, whatnot, and this is absolutely illegal! There is a certain way that these things are to be handled, discretely and behind curtains..... There are certain ways that they are to be lifted and helped, too........ your administrator really needs to know these things :( If that person does not care, you have your answer :( You may have got a bad nursing home, not all are bad but the ones that are make me sick :( The things you are describing are considered patient abuse in the new laws. Same with the bathrooming, abuse. I am not even allowed to tell someone they can't have a sandwich instead of dinner, abuse!

Five minute break with a glass of wine - gettting ready for Turkey day wears one out - LOL! And to top it off, I forgot the bread for stuffing - duh - so back to the store I go in a bit. Why did I tell everyone that we would have it out here? Because I AM STUPID!!!! It's kind of like childbirth - you don't remember the pain until you do it again - duh!!!
 
Gigi... stupidity happens to us all on occassion.

I just got an exercise bike of CL for 40 bucks. Here is hoping I can get down to a normal size keister. I have been looking for one for a few weeks now since using my elliptical machine is just hellon my knees and feet and ankles. I can set the seat high enough that my knees do not have to do any extreme bending. The seat is nice and broad too! Its like 15 years old, but its from an old lady who had it sitting in her basement, and hardly used it. It is in very nice shape for the age. SO, needless to say, I might not bike uphill both ways to get to my chickens everyday like fuzzy, but maybe I'll be able to get my bottom a lot smaller and look like I bike uphill both ways. LOL.

Gotta get the kids dressed. They want to go play down at the church school playground. I am just going to be lazy and sit around... lol. Yeah right. There are swings there, so I knwo what I will be doing... Underdogs...
 
Well everyone. Looks like tomorrow is going to be a quazzy busy day. have to do some last minute cleaning before Johns family gets here. With the boys, I will wait till about an hour before they come to rewash the floors and toilet... boys pee everywhere I swear... But got the sofa cleaned again and smelling pretty. Now I just need to go and have a short nap, I have to go to work at 9:30 to load up the car for the first trip. Ugh... going to be a long night tonight, but I won't have to go to work again then until Saturday night. SO, no work Thursday, Friday or Saturday during the day!

he he he........ and don't forget the wind and rain! Gives new meaning to the song with the lerics "against the wind......against the wind......" These days i'm getting lazy and driving the truck. I would really like to start walking again, but no time! Speedwalking did the most to trim me when i was trying to lose, the bike does work on the bottom though, lol :p
