Fuzzy's Farm

Neat, i'll have to try and figure that calendar thing out, would make a nice gift :) Thanks.

Yes, after describing my situation with my co-workers i do feel that my gut instinct is right on this one. They knew my feelings, and the wife in particular has always tried to cause trouble for me in the past.... My coworker friend said it sounded to her like they knew just how to get to me, and though i think the hubby is clueless and just tunes half of what i say out, the wife had a chance to question and she ate mine before she ate hers. :( And he agreed to let me know when it was time and said it would be in a few days.....then did it the next morning so he's guilty too.

now i need to figure out how to break it to him that he will not be getting that monthly extra, after all. Well, they will get it, but it will have to go on electric............. so no beer $$$ for him! Knowing her she has seen the brooder light and has probably been planning to hit me with at least $100 anyway (she don't pay the bill and lies to hubby and tries to say we must be running things)
You wouldn't happen to have a fairground there? Our fairground will let people have chickens for a minimal cost - and they supply electricity. It's part of the conservation department.

Sounds good, gonna go make it now. Unfortunately I told DH that I grill fish tonight and he's looking forward to it. Do not want to cook but he's been sick so this is first time he's interested in food so guilt kicks in and I'll cook. Then go to bed...

I locked up the coop.........

The day they took blue my brooder bulb was out, when i went to wiggle it it nearly snapped off in the socket! I chalked it up to my own error, thought it was fishy but i had bigger worries drove to town and bought another, replaced it........ yesterday all was well. Today i got there and it was off, now this was a brand new bulb so i carefully touched it, this time i wasn't taking chances; it was partly unscrewed!!! Of all the brass. That means that when she sent DH's nephew out the other day to throw in the moldy bread/ fetch the rooster, she also told him to unscrew my light; kid must've turned it the wrong way! There was a lot of standing water all over too, which leads me to believe that she had him do it last night again, really P.O'd. (had uncle had light when filling the water in the morning, why overflow?)

So i told uncle never mind. He actually seemed disappointed, but when i told him someone was messing with my coop (never said specifics) he clammed up and didn't even ask what happened; so she definitely overstepped. I don't know what she was thinking, now they lose extra income which they were probably counting on but i'm not playing games. Had my brooder babies froze to death, it would have been very, very bad for her. I have not weaned them yet! When i was growing up i had a very violent temper, it took years to master control and she nearly undid that the past week........... not one word has anyone said about wanting money, no they went behind my back. And to top it off there is a chicken body ( bigger than their rooster was) in what looks like an oversized squirrel cage hanging in their tree. Yup, took a lot of self control. What the heck kind of people DO these things???! And i even offered to BUY my bird back, that i didn't even give in the first place. Brass.

Gigi, do you have chamomile tea? Someone on here said it was antiseptic; i started drinking it in the evening the other day when my throat started getting sore, so far so good.......

That's a good idea. I've got chamomile - in fact often drink it at night just to get to sleep. I'm ready for bed and it's only 6:50. Too dark too early but tonight DH has done all the chores so we just might go to bed early and call it a night. I'm hoping chamomile, honey and lemon and zinc lozenges knock this as I've got two late school nights this week.

I can't believe those people. And to not give you your bird back - AND to turn out the brooder light. Is she just evil?

Oh, there was a bright spot in the midst of all the drama; One of my two remaining EE's layed an egg yesterday/ today!

Haven't seen an egg for a month or more, could be cookie or princess, if it was cookie than she's a blue egg layer! I think princess is done moulting, her tail still looks kinda short?? Idk, but she turned out to be a pretty blue laced girl! (When i bought her she was too nekked to tell what she was supposed to look like)

My white girl and my orpington were adopted out this summer, as i felt the white girl wasn't happy being confined and the orpington didn't like me and the EE's never took to her; i adopted her to a home that wanted orpingtons specifically! I bet she sure was happy to be with her own kind! (When an EE snubs, they literally do turn up their beaks, lol)

So for the winter i have the EE trio, (plus the trio of up-and-comings that i'm keeping.) the porcelain d'uccle trio, and the odd trio of "yard bird" wild d'uccle roos, And i think henry is for sure a keeper, DH's uncle has one remaining EE rooster that came a-visiting today, other than the initial stare down they both actually seemed to like each other!
Puzzling, but both roos were used to having a rooster buddy, so that's encouraging since the yard bird d'uccle roos and henry are always scrapping through the fence.
(the porcelain rooster, maurice, is fine with henry,) Still very hoarse, but now that blue isn't around he's crowing his squeaky heart out!

Yes, i do think she's evil. Or hateful. Or both.?? Many wrongs but i made the deal with DH's uncle, not her, so i thought i was safe.......? I don't know anymore. I just buttoned up and locked the door and went home.

Suppose a heated base would be ok with a rubber dish? I got the large shallow one from TSC with the handy handles, so the ice would break out easy without getting the fingers wet......

I figure i'll make a quick wall divider, release the chicks, and have the water dish sitting under the wire part of the wall, so both parties can see each other and drink out of the same dish without any danger of the babies getting pecked.
