fyi --plastic grass like mat for bottom of nest box for air movement

Bought some cheap mats (looks like short grass) from wal-mart and cut them to fit my hen boxes for the bottom and sprinkle a little DE then shavings and when it is time to clean the boxes i just pick up the mat and out come everything and then clean mat and let air dry then put back in box with new bedding. this has help from keeping poop from building up in bottom of nest box .

Has any one used something like this before?

I use them in my house chicken's cage. They are awesome! Mine are pretty heavy duty ones. I bought them at the local hardware store this summer for $7 each. They are the large size so I cut them in half. I got tired of hosing them off so I decided to try and wash them. It worked! I throw them in the washer and then the dryer. They come out clean and perfect. I am going to try them in the nest boxes this spring. Right now my chickens love the shavings for warmth.
