I am new to the site and to chickens in general. My 7 year old son wanted some about a year ago and his Dad and I thought it would be fun and a good chance for responsibility for him. We love it. Coops are getting bigger and more chickens just joined us. We have 4 Dominique hens, 2 Buff O hens, 3 white hens (I think white leghorn) and this past weekend we got what we thought to be 5 Ameraucauna hens and a Roo but turns out they are 3 Easter Egger Roosters 1 Easter Egger Hen, 1 Red Production hen, and a white leghorn (roo?). Lord help! Anyway, nice to be here! I have learned so much already!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Very few BYC members are immune to chicken math. :o) Raising chickens is a great experience for children. My 7 year old granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Ha! Been there already. That's the only way I knew what our newbies were, and yes very helpful!.
