Gabbie's "hatch"

Ok, so I have come to the conclusion that guineas arent as stupid as we think! Gabbie my only female has kept an eye on her eggs under my broody all this time everyday checking on them. So, broody takes all the guinea babies out for the 1st time today n Gabbie tries to chase her off n steal the babies, lOL! So, I'll have to keep them in the pen til they are good n fast enough to keep up with broody . Pfft, now Gabbie is hawking the pen like a shark! Was also going to toss all the eggs that didnt hatch (7) but, 1 was wriggling n peeping for all it was worth, so I helped him on out, he was dry already just couldnt get out! Candled the rest n put them in the bator cause they look like they just arent ready yet. We'll see!
Also, on the guinea color calculator, pfft that thing is neat but obviously they didnt count my birds . out of 18 eggs, 10 hatched, so far,all are Pearl Grays. This is out of Gabbie ( lavender pearl, n she is mated up with my light blue male ) also have 2 pearls males. So, either he is sterile n they are taking care of all her business....? Geez was hoping for at least 1 more color! But, got more eggs ready for the brooder next week...crossing fingers n toes!

ok, any ideas on what color these are? Pearls? Some are I know but, these 3 n some more are colored like these, a few TB's

Those are Peal Greys keets.

Pearl Grey is dominant over all other colors and pearling/markings... so it shows up a lot in hatches, even from birds that are not Pearl Grey. Since she is Lavender, the fully Pearled gene is going to dominate the hatches as well, if she is not carrying the partially pealed gene in her background.

The Lite Blue genes (their partial-pearled genes and their Lite Blue color genes) are both recessive, so if your Lavender Hen is split to Pearl Grey and/or her mate is as well... you'll get lots of Pearl Grey keets.

Not all eggs in a clutch always hatch, plus she may have laid some eggs elsewhere prior to what you collected and put under your broody... so there may have been other colors that could have hatched out of her eggs, but so far all you see is Pearl Grey. She may have been bred by both males too... and as I said above, Pearl Grey is dominant.

Thanks Peeps. Yep , very familiar with genetics have bred n shown Collies n other dogs for a long time. Well, babies are great, no matter the color. Still might be something else in the other 7 in the bator, if they hatch ! These were from when she first started laying ans was laying in the coop with my hens. Then she went to laying under my rose bush in the back yard by the porch. Then in my horse pasture... lOL NOW she is back to laying in the coop.
Maybe something else different will turn up, if not I'll do some bird swapping Any clues on the foggy color on those few babies. It hasnt faded, at least yet, but still may. They have very little black on their backs, just head. Maybe, just something funky on the pearls, lOL!

I wasn't sure if their faded coloring on their backs was due to the pic/camera or not, but I don't usually see that much shade variation in my Pearl Grey keets, so I'm not sure what's up with that. Maybe a slight mutation to the Pearl Grey gene due to the Lavender gene, but I really don't know. If their heads weren't so dark I'd say they might be Brown keets, but the center head stripe on all 3 looks too dark to me... be sure to post more pics of them when you can tho.
