Wow... just WOW!

I have a bag of Purina scratch grains that I had left outside. When I went to open it up to put it in a sealed container, the whole bag was writhing with black solder fly larvae!!!

Obviously my girls would be MORE than happy to get access to all of it, but it's just too much.

So, what do I do with this huge full bag?

I'm thinking about giving some of it to the girls right now and then just dumping the rest in my compost bin.

Any other thoughts / ideas?

Seal the bag up as if it had never been opened, take it back to the feed store for a refund, and they’ll send it back the mill. Then the mill will stick it on a pallet and ship it off to another feed store. Let’s see how many people will buy it, return it, and help it recycle. We can start a BYC-Soldier-Fly-In-The-Scratch-Bag game and see how far across the states that very bag goes. Mark the bottom of the bag with a tiny dot, then post where it was purchased and returned right here, with a photo of the dots for proof. Ooh, new game, new game.....the prize can be a 20 year Premim membership!

(Look, you just asked for ideas....you didn’t say they had to be practical!)

How long was bag out in elements...and how did flies get into sealed bag?
Do you raise BSF?
I love that your little girl is not afraid to touch 'gross bugs'!

:lol::gig
Maybe it was an already opened bag and the flies snuck in. :confused:

Put it in freezer bags and stash it in the freezer for later use?
I have no idea.
I don't like buggy things so I would probably give it to a neighbor.
