My name is Gail. I am 64 years of age I am a new chicken owner. I have never owned chickens before. I am blessed in that we just bought a farm and I have a nice setup already for my chickens. I have a rescued rooster with no tail feathers. Someone found him and knew I wanted a rooster. I applied med to his damaged tail and he is doing great now. Not sure what kind of rooster he is but he is red. I also have a Rhode Island Red hen and a Dominique hen.
. Both were given to me. I found out about Backyard Chickens from searching the web. I am retired and have taken up raising chickens about 3 months ago. My two hens are laying good and i have all of them in separate pens next to each other. When I put them all together the hens stopped laying. I am in the process of trying to figure out a way to install a feeder and a waterer that they will not play in and dirty up. I am looking forward to being a part of your group and learning more from others about taking care of my chickens. They all seem to be happy. I can actually pet my Dominique hen. She loves for me to let her out of her pen and she follows me around. I don't think she realizes she is a chicken.
