"I'm not exactly a come-to-me stallion. I don't think very many mares want my attention. Just my DNA." Dour nudged Annalise cautiously. "I don't feel the same...feeling for them that I do for you."

It wasn't happening very fast, but the grullo stud was falling in love with Annalise.

"They can get DNA from any stallion. Maybe they just want a grullo foal... Who wouldn't? Grullo's a beautiful color... especially on you..."

(did Theodora and Dusky get bred about the same time, or is Dusky behind a few months?)

Ash sauntered past Titan. Overhearing him, she rolled her eyes. Ash didn't know when Theodora's foal was due, but she had a feeling hers was due soon.

Black Ice grazed happily off to one side. Sleet and Twilight were a few yards away, grazing side-by-side.

Dusky was nowhere to be seen.

Titan had not noticed the missing Dusky, and was busy working at a knot in Theodora's mane.

Dour tossed his head and whinnied proudly. He was a handsome devil, and he knew it. He bit playfully at Annalise's withers. "Takes a gorgeous mare to spot the good-looking studs."

He trotted a few feet away and looked back, calling Annalise with a soft nicker.

Titan had not noticed the missing Dusky, and was busy working at a knot in Theodora's mane.

Twilight was first to notice her dam wasn't in sight. The filly's stomach was growling for milk, and Dusky was gone. That didn't deter Twilight. She tried first Ash, and when the grullo mare wouldn't let her nurse, she tried Black Ice. The black mare didn't mind, as she had nursed Twilight off-and-on for months when Dusky went into one of her moods.

Her coat darkened from sweat, Ash had distanced herself from the others. Cinders was gone, and Ash was grateful. She had another foal coming.

Dour, rarely experiencing such a feeling of joy, dropped his head and kicked his heels nearly to the sky. Righting himself, he circled Annalise, crooning to her with soft nickers. The grullo stud slowed and swished his tail anxiously. He was beginning to feel more at ease, but he wondered...would Annalise like him this way?

Ash thrashed about in a thicket for several minutes then fell silent.

The grullo stud slowed and swished his tail anxiously. He was beginning to feel more at ease, but he wondered...would Annalise like him this way?

Annalise nickered, and lifted her tail invitingly.
