Sano and Ziza grazed on the grass just inside of river herd.
Sano flared his nostrils, checking the area for any rival horses.
ziza'a belly was huge, the foal would be born any day now and she was wary of getting into a fight.
"sano let's go back." she said, scannig the area, cautiously nibbling on grass.
"we are fine." sano assured, keeping a close watch. "eat."

Star groaned, getting up. She staggered away from Hollyleap, and towards her herd. "Ziza!" She nickered feebly.

Vanner's battered body stepped out of the trees. Not another challenger. He thought. Screaming a warning, he stamped the ground.

"Step away old man your no match for me now!" Sundance reared and screamed also.

Rosie was stubborn.She did what she wanted when she wanted.She wasn't afraid of any ol' stallion.She probably couldn't produce foals anymore so she wasn't worth the bother.Some stallions might try to kill her out of spite or perhaps for sport,but she would give them a pretty good fight before she died.Maybe she could find a herd and take care of foals for protection.Maybe she could give advice and be like a grandmother.Whatever she did it would be on her terms.After all she was old,right?
