Does anyone use the older style galvanized nesting boxes? I've inherited and old 15 nest unit. The removable metal nest bottoms I assume go concave side down. No matter which way I put them in, many just fall straight down. I think I'm going to have to modify but want to see if anyone else has run into this.

Can you post a picture ? I’m not a fan of metal, but you could line them with carpet or cardboard .

Mine is a metal six hole. Post a picture, if you can. Is it riveted, welded, or bolted together? My box bottoms just set inside on a lip.

I used to have wood nestboxes and much prefer the metal. They don't hold moisture or warp/swell, and they can be cleaned more thoroughly, and won't harbor mites.

I use hay in the boxes but I am going to put some washable liners underneath to keep them from digging down to the floor.

Yeah, there is a short metal lip, front and back at the bottom of each nesting box that looks as if it should hold the galvanized floor but only holds the bottom row in. I assume the concave side should face down? I'll probably have to add wood or metal strips to hold the floors. Since it's mobile, I probably would have to do that anyway.

I have a galvanized nesting box. The bottom pieces of mine are flat and bend up at each left & right side and that bent up part rests on the lip inside the box. There is no bent up part on the front or back of the bottom piece. Does that make sense? If not I can take a picture today. :)
