Okay, I am so sick of SEGA butchering my favorite hedgehog and his pals. I read a bit of Unleashed's plot, WTC?!!? You. Are. Not. Supposed. To. Catch. SUPER SONIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Eggy is making stupid robots now!! And he lost weight!! Now Sonic is just a cocky idiot, Tails is whiny out the wazoo, Knux is a rapper, Shadow just broods about Maria 24/7, and everyone else is just an idiot!! What happened to the kikis? The Piko Piko hammer? TAILS BEING SMART???!!!!??? And since WHEN was Eggy the main villan???? NONE!!! He's being replaced by idiots!! And you can quit making EVERYONE delude themselves. Since WHEN did Sonic listen to an idiot genie? I though he was carefree and hated being told what to do! So now he's taking orders 24/7! GRR!!!! Makes me want to NOT buy any more Sonic games!!!!!

Sonic Unleashed isn't the return to form that longtime fans of the series have hoping for, but I don't think it qualifies as a train wreck. As advertised, the daytime racing levels are speedy, surprisingly lengthy, and do a great job of recreating the full-throttle thrills of the early Sonic games. The nighttime Werehog levels are a huge change of pace. The brawling is repetitive, and the platforming elements can control stiffly in comparison to other platformers. The upgradeable combo and experience system add a little bit of variety, which is nice. At their worst these levels can feel almost like doing a long, boring homework assignment, but in moderation they're a simple button-mashing amusement that younger gamers should enjoy.
While SEGA hasn't found a winning formula for Sonic in 3D, Unleashed offers some entertaining experiences and some boring ones. Old school Sonic fans will doubtless be disappointed that Sonic isn't ready to go toe-to-toe with Mario again, but younger gamers should be entertained by the simple brawling stages. In the meantime, the daytime racing stages provide more than enough speed and panache to keep both camps hanging on until SEGA's next big experiment with Sonic in 3D. "
