I found a surprise today. I thought I had lost a hen in the last couple weeks, couldn't find her anywhere. I was cleaning up some things today and located her on a clutch of eggs.

As soon as it's dark, I am candling to see if I have any development. No idea whose eggs she has and no idea if they are fertile. I have May hatch cockerels in the pen but I have not done fertility checks. She has been gone for at least a week, possibly longer so I hope there are at least a couple that are developing so she has something to show for her efforts.

Maybe they want to take their time. I just had a hatch today, a day late. It was a lousy hatch though. Only 4 of 8. 2 of 6 CCL and 2 of 2 Marans. I Blame the fact that it was a new roo (that i don't know his age or history) and newly laying pullets. All eggs developed but 4 quit. Hopefully your babies are just being lazy

Here are the pictures of the new babies. Don't mind the messy brooder. They're in with the Ayam cemanis. Looks like 2 CCL cockerels, 1 BCM and 1 either wheaten Marans or wheaten Marans x RIR
