Gander bashing female

Does anyone have any advise for geese, particularly ganders. Our male is a beautiful gentle boy and never has been aggressive towards us, anyone that comes over or others in the pen. But come mating season he gets really rough and aggressive towards 1 female in particular (he has 4). He will pin her down or corner her and tug on her neck, and tug, and tug and tug and if she tries to move he will kick and smack her with his wing. This will keep going until she manages to get away or I go out there. It doesn't look like he is actually trying to mate with her as he doesn't get on, just yanks her up and down, just looks like he is trying to bash her. She looses feathers, has bald spots and is always skittish around him in the group.

Sounds like you will have to separate him for a while from that female. Maybe put him in a separate pen with his favorite girl so he doesn't get lonely, unless he's causing all of them distress.
