Gapeworm in hens?

Welcome to BYC!

Could you take a video of them panting, and upload it a video platform like Youtube or Vimeo, and copy/paste the link here?

Do they appear healthy otherwise? Gapeworm is not very common with chickens. Heat stress would be much more likely however if you want, you could send a fecal sample to your veterinarian or state poultry lab and they will be able to let you know if there is an overabundance of Gapeworm eggs in their feces.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Gape worm is not very common really. More likely they are warm from the summer heat. Young birds are still learning how to regulate their internal body temperature. Some sort of respiratory illness can mimic Gape worm, if they have watery gummy eyes, runny nose, wheezy breathing, etc...then you might suspect a respiratory ailment. If you feel they are warm, put a fan on them, they will cool down quickly and appreciate the cooler breeze! You can put ice in their water or feed some cool watermelon.

Welcome aboard!
